Sir Peesalot hasn't had a bath since before Thanksgiving, and *holyshit* is he smelly. MIL's got a small shower & a bathtub, but I'm thinking about taking him somewhere since he needs his nails clipped, too.
Both of the reputable places in town are running $35-40 for a bath, nail trim, and comb-out. Just me, or does that seem high?

That seems high to me. I pay that for my shih-tzu, who also gets a complicated haircut...
The wash your own dog places around here are like 10-15 bucks, maybe you could try one of those?
we pay $25 for scrappy, and i thoguht this is reasonable since he's kind of small.
is it really too small to wash him yourself? just get nekkid and jump in the shower with him. save that $40 for something pretty for yourself.
