Update re: photos (my WWYD? post)

I finally got the photos I ordered from my maternity shoot today.

The bad:

1. It took almost 4 months to finally get the photos we ordered on April 3rd. ?

2. Excuse after excuse -- some defied common sense, while others simply were not true. ?So unprofessional and disappointing.

3. The photos are just ok. ?Every single one had to be edited to b&w, because the lighting in my apartment sucked. ?The problem I have with this is that DH, who is NOT a pro photog, offered to bring in extra lamps & lighting for the pics- but she declined, saying there was more than enough light and everything would be fine. ?Well, it took over a month to even see my proofs, and when I did, every last one was in b&w because of the lighting issue. ?I like b&w, but not that much - and that's not what we hired her for. Sorta stinks, but whatevs.

4. ?Finally, she emailed me last Friday (25th) to say she had already sent my package on Wednesday the 23rd. ?The postmark is from Y-E-S-T-E-R-D-A-Y (June 28th). If there was any shred of credibility to her previous claims of having shipped items, this blows it out of the water. The claim to have shipped it was completely untrue, and I can post a photo of the postmarked date from the package if anyone wants to take a look!


The good:

1. I finally have what I paid for.

2. She sent me the high-res cd of all 32 photos from the session, so I can print them out for his baby book. (the previous cd she sent were web-sized photos only, even though she had offered me a cd with photos suitable for printing AND the refund of my money. ?She then reneged and said it was one or the other. I decided it wasn't worth the battle and said I would just take the cd in lieu of a refund.)

3. She also included a small leather-bound photo album for free. ?I can print and put whatever photos I want in them.?

I will never recommend or work with her again. ?The end.?

  • Ugh.  I am so sorry you had to go through all this.  I am so glad I ended up not going through her for Charlotte's pics after hearing several horror stories.  At least you have what you paid for, sorta...

    I'm glad you FINALLY got your pictures, but am sorry that they aren't better & weren't worth the wait.  Don't worry, I don't think anybody will be recommending or using her again!

    It did take her over a month to get me the proofs and by the time I got them, I had a newborn here, was recovering from my crazy delivery and didn't have time to order. ?I didn't order until April. ?So, that part was NOT her fault at all. ?But it still shouldn't have taken her 4 months to get me the photos.

  • I don't think it matters when you ordered them, it never should have taken her 4 months!!

    And my point was, she she should have already done all the work when the pictures when you originally took them.  It shouldn't have been much to get them to you once your ordered them.

  • That stinks - just goes to show that just because you have a talent, doesn't mean you can run a business. ?Customer service is key, and though I love her work, I have heard way more negative feedback than good at this point, which is unfortunate. ?

    Gotcha. ?You are totally right! ?I just wanted to make sure people didn't think I had ordered them right when I got the proofs. ?I have enough complaints about her, so I don't want any misinformation out there. ?Thanks, Min. : )?

  • Wowza - well, at least you got your photos and can close the chapter in that book....unreal...I read your other post the other week, but never responded to it...thank goodness that is done and over with!
  • I'm glad you finally got the pics. Sorry they're not all you had hoped for, but at least it's done with and you have SOMETHING for his album. When can we see the photos???

  • I'm glad you finally have them, though that is disappointing that they are all b&w if that is not what you wanted!  Are you going to post some?

  • Strangely enough, I got my wallets today too ... they are SO CUTE and we LOVE THEM ... I am just very disappointed at how long it took and what happened ... I still don't understand.  Sad
  • That's great you got your pictures! That sucks that a lot of her business came from the Nest and I doubt anyone will ever book her again.
