I will say one thing.

Kids age the hell out of some women.

When I look at some of my IRL friends, fb friends from HS, and chicks at work.

::;I just have to say it:::

They look old. These are women my age, different races, but the one common factor is they had kids in their mid 20's.

Now, before you moms start yelling at me, I know it depends on the person, and how much they try to keep themselves up, and all that jazz, but most of them did not age well.

Please to discuss.

Re: I will say one thing.

  • Agreed. I look at HS friends on FB and so damn many of them popped out 2-3 kids right after we graduated. I always have to stop and remember that we're 28 now - not 18 - and that most people *do* have kids at our age.
  • I'm sure it's the sleep issue, added stress, and me looking for the upside of being childless. Hee

    But

Get a cute hair cut, and slap on some lipstick from time to time.

I agree.  I don't know why I find it CUHRAZY that people at 28 have 3 kids.  Now the one with the 6th on the way...even more crazy.

  • These are ladies that are 36 and 37. That's not old, but they look 45. Easy.

  • lol. Yes.  One quick swipe of lipstick and brush through the hair would probably  help a bit.

  • I think part of the reason they look old is because they put on weight thanks to getting pregnant & never lost it.  I know one of the girls I graduated with who was homecoming queen & a model (allbeit for JC Penney) got married right out of college & popped out 3 kids in 5 years; she looks to have put on at least 50 lbs.  I, of course, laugh @ this because I've always been fat & not they are also.

  • I don't know.  It all depends on the age of the kids, the homelife (husband/money).  Sometimes we also see age on other people we don't see on ourselves.  I see my sister getting wrinkles, but I don't see mine.
  • I don't think it's the weight - I mean, my fat face is still wrinkle-free and childlike.

I think it's putting too much effort into your kid(s) and not enough into yourself. Seriously, I don't understand not buying cute clothes, even for housecleaning, and putting a brush through your hair or some mascara on. I'm always neatly and cutely dressed, have my hair done, and look presentable. It makes me feel better about myself to be put together, and that creates a good example for my daughter.

Maybe it's because I don't think housewifery is a "second-best" job, or because I don't think I need to subsume myself in my kid to be a decent mother. Or maybe because I only have the one (3 by age 28?! Holy crap!).

Or maybe it's just my fat, keeping everything smooth and lovely. Big Smile

  • my wii fit age is 43, though I am actually "only" 33.

I look every bit of 43, I think. I admit to having given up.  It's been so long since I really felt like any effort would make a difference that I can hardly imagine putting too much in.

Sure, I will occasionally put on a little makeup. But I do have a lot of extra weight (some baby-related, some all my own fault), zero energy, and horrific dark circles and dead-looking pallor, plus zero motivation to do anything positive in life. No amount of lipstick is going to change that.
