Every year my church puts on a Mardi Gras dance. You buy a table (a row of tables) and provide food/drinks for the people who sit there.
Last year my aunt was in charge, so I'm taking over the responsibililty. There are 21 people at a table and she's told me it was tacky to invite people and tell them to bring a dish and their own alcohol.
I don't want anything too messy or that requires too much upkeep after preparation.
Go!

Re: I need appetizer ideas
- bacon wrapped artichoke hearts/asparagus. Still tasty at room temp.
- lots of dips and veggies/chips/breads
- big vat of fondu in an electric pot.
hmm.
get a pillsbury pizza crust and roll it out.
spread some minced garlic
layer some shredded basil leaves (not too many, or don't bother), VERY THIN pepperoni slices, and slices of fresh unsalted mozzarella.
roll it up, like a little debbie swiss roll.
slice into 1-inch peices
bake until browned
serve as peperoni pizza pinwheels. these can be room temp.
there's enough salt in the pepperoni but you can add S&P if you like more salt.
you can also make one with some pizza sauce. i like ragu in the jar if you don't feel like making it from scratch.

also, crudite is very easy and requires only minimal prep work. and no heating or cooling.
I believe the EI board could help you with this a little better.
What does the Mexico board know about entertaining anyway?!?
zucchini chips:
coat with olive oil then dip in a mix of bread crumbs and grated parmesan. bake at 475. You do have to turn them over, so it might be a bit tedious. But they're so good.
cheese fondue or spinach and artichoke dip would work well in a crock pot. You could have pretzels, chips, veggies, fruit, and bread for dipping.
my friends generally go for my pigs in a blanket - i use mini sausages instead of cocktail franks, and add in cheese and pieces of jalapeno.
bacon-wrapped anything is good
bite size brownies, cupcakes or cookies would also be nice.
-proscutto wrapped melon
-stuffed olives
-spicy nuts
-hummus with pita chips, cucumbers, carrots and red peppers
- shrimp cocktail
- cocktail weenies and meatballs
- pumpkin soup (serve in a small cup with a spoon)
- fruit skewers
- sugar cookies
- saltine cracker cookies (tastes like a heath bar)
- this sounds gross, but I swear it's always a hit:
get sliced ham in a package (the ham will be rectangular shaped). Smear it with cream cheese, place a pickle spear on one end. Roll it up and spear it with ~6 toothpicks. slice into bite sized portions
