how old is too old

for mom to wipe a kid's butt?

how do you feel about 6.5 years old?

Re: how old is too old

  • Unless the kid is really sick and has gloopy poop anthing over 4 isn't unacceptable. and 4 is reallllllly pushing it.
  • I think that's too old. In all my babysitting years, I never had to wipe a butt unless the kid was still in diapers. Once the kids were potty trained they did their own wiping.

  • As soon as that kid can reach it's own butt, it's done.  Some kids have short arms.

  • i'd say 3-4 - this seems like it should be included in the whole potty training deal, although I can see that the parent would want to at least check and make sure the kid does a good job before they make them do it themselves.
  • I say once they're potty-trained.

Although I wouldn't be surprised if sMIL still wiped LLB's asss. *shudder*

  • This reminds of me Half-ton Teen. An nurse or orderly had to help him bathe. In another scene the mom yanked a peepee pad out from under the boy and it was streaked with poo.

  • :/ at peepee pad!

6.5 is too old! This is from someone that knows a 5 and 6 year old who don't - and wear pull-ups at night! Tongue Tied

    .
  • Too old.

We had a no-wiping policy at the daycare - if the kid was potty-trained, they wiped. End of story.

Bacon made it almost to 5, but she had potty-training problems to begin with. Once she got the hang of the potty, we pretty much told her to suck it up and wipe.

  • Unless the kid is sick they need to wipe by the time they are potty trained.  I recently saw pull-ups in niece's room (bil's step kid).  They are in active use.  She's 8.
  • Eh. Mine stopped asking for help overall when she was around four, 4.5. She's asked for help once or twice since then when she was feeling less than herself.
