OK, time for the hotel drama

The hotel in Des Moines was pretty nice, room-wise.  The kids loved the water park.  The customer service SUCKED.

We never got maid service.  I complained Friday night that the room hadn't been cleaned and we needed more towels (they only stocked 2, we had 5 ppl reserved for the room).  An old man came and brought our towels, but didn't clean anything, make the beds, or take out trash.   Saturday the maids came in and cleaned the bathroom only, and only left 2 towels.  I went back up to the front desk, and this time they sent 2 people who cleaned the room, changed the sheets, and took out trash.  They also left extra towels when I asked them to.

The hot tub was 78 degrees the WHOLE time we were there, so I never got to use it.  The kids loved the water park, but both girls got chemical burns from the amount of chlorine in the pool.  When I mentioned it to the front desk and SHOWED them how burned the girls were, they said "We'll have to get maintenance to check that."  Not I'm sorry, that's too bad, nothing.

Saturday we had Redneck's sisters over, and paid for pool passes for the niece/nephew.  We were sitting at a group of tables OUTSIDE of the pool area with sodas from the machine in the hallway.  This b*tch came by and said we couldn't have "outside" food and would need to leave or order from their restaurant.  I explained the pop came from the machine in their hallway, she didn't care.  Back to the front desk - manager says the only way I can drink the pop at that table is if I pour it into a Ramada glass.  WTF?  It's not "outside food or drink" if I bought it from the machine 20 feet away.  Mind you, we were at tables wayyyyyy back by our room, and when I walked up front, every.single.table that was between me and the restaurant was empty - we weren't taking anyone's spot.

  • Geez, sounds horrible, especially the chemical burns that your daughters got!  I can't believe that they did not even apologize for that!  I hope they are ok. . .

As for the soda thing. . .WTF!!!!!!!

  • Yikes, how annoying about the soda thing.  And the chemical burns is just terrifying.  Did you take the girls to a doctor or at least get pictures of them with the burns?

  • You seriously need to call and ask for their district manager, or higher! That is completly uncool that you had to repeatedly ask for extra towles, for the room to be cleaned, and The pool thing is just beyond words.

RAISE up lady! At least get your stay comped, and even go for a couple more free nights if you can. I never let bad service go unnoticed!

  • That's terrible.  I'm shocked about the chemical burn part (how do they NOT know about that to begin with?!) and that they didn't even apologize.  Sounds like a poorly run hotel.  Definitely try to get in touch with the highest person you can to get something to make up for your crappy experience.

  • I sent a letter to the GM and Wyndham corporate.  I'm not going to let this go.
