Our tech team has launched updates to The Nest today. I copied this from my local board. What are the top 10 most memorable  things that you did or that happened to you during this decade?

  • The entire decade?  Let's see...not necessarily in order (except for #1)

    1) Met and married K

    2) Got pregnant

    3) Had a c/p

    4) Bought a house

    5) Backpacked through Europe

    6) Moved across country

    7) College life in general - friends, sorority, graduation, etc.

    8) Got my dog - can't really imagine life without him now

    9) Had some great vacations, Fan Fair in Nashville, Mexico, Montreal, P-town, NYC, etc.

    10) This will sound cheesy but joining the knot/nest/bump and making some good friends online and IRL.

    Well those are the first 10 that came to mind so I suppose they are memorable to me. :-)

  • 1. Met L (6/00)

    2. Came out to my parents (9/00)

    3. Married L (3/03)

    4.  Graduated from grad school (6/03)

    5.  Took a job with an emotionally abusive boss (7/03-12/03)

    6.  Got the job I REALLY wanted (2/04)

    7.  Tried to get pregnant (3/04-9/05 - off and on)

    8.  Nearly broke up with L (11/04)

    9.  Got pregnant (9/05)

    10.  Survived parenting twins (5/06-present)

  • 1. Started the decade off right by going on my first date with Jen (Feb 00)

    2. Graduated from college and spent a wonderful summer working at a hostel in Boston and just having fun (May-August 01)

    3. Americorps NCCC - all of 2002 - lived in six states, learned to use a chainsaw and roof a house and take care of zebras and all kinds of things

    4. Did my first race - a sprint triathlon (summer 03)

    5. Came out to everyone I know, felt like one at a time some days (multiple dates)

    6. Got married (June 04)

    7. Went to Paris, first with Jen and then with Jen and my mom and sister (March 07 and March 09)

    8. Survived law school and the ugly emotional ride of three years of pressure, criticism and rejection (04-07)

    9. Spent a memorable week at a beach house with many friends, in between law school graduation and the beginning of bar study classes

    10. Had a lot of fun training and racing with Jen in 09

  • In no particular order: 

    1. Saved for and paid cash for an all first class trip to London -a dream come true.

    2.Met S

    3. Came out to everyone

    4. Got married

    5. TTC

    6. Having the girls placed with us and parenting them

    7. Really "found myself"

    8. Finally broke free from bad family relationships and set new boundaries

    9. Made wonderful friends here who have helped me more than they know

    10. Starting blogging which opened a whole new world to me.

    These are what came to mind first, I am sure I left stuff out. Happy New Year!

     

  • 1. Lost my Grandpa. (2000)

    2. Met my daughters father. (2001)

    3. Broke up with my daughters father and found out I was pregnant 3 weeks later. (2003)

    4. Met my first serious girlfriend. (2003)

    5. Had my daughter. (2004)

    6. My girlfriend broke up with me and I moved out. (2007)

    7. I started dating my DW. (2007)

    8. I moved to be closer to DW. (2008)

    9. DW and I got married. (2009)

    10. We moved into a house together. (2009)

     

    1. Married DW
    2. Traveled to some great places.
    3. Graduated High School.
    4. Coming Out to my WHOLE family.
    5. Moved on my own, and doing so successfully. 
    6. Started College, and loved it.
    7. Volunteering for numerous GLBTQA groups
    8. Moved back home to iowa.
    9. Got my dog, and new puppy.
    10. Growing up, and finding my way.

  • Not in chronological order: 

    1. Met and married the LOML!
    2. A wonderful "pup-pup" came with my DW Big Smile! (And has a huge place in my heart.)
    3. Planned and began working towards having a child.
    4. My DW got pregnant with TWINS! 
    5. Left home to start a doctoral progam.
    6. Came out at work for the first time ever...what a relief!
    7. Proudly enrolled my daughter in college and (after a year) supported her in her decision to join the Armed Forces.
    8. Adjusted to life without all my bio-family drama.
    9. Learned that age (to a certain extent) doesn't matter.
    10. Found a FABULOUS Church family!

    I know that there is so much more, but these were the first things that came to mind.

  • 1) Met Andrea/found out I was gay

    2) Graduated HS and finally had the opportunity to be free and grow up

    3) Rollercoaster of college years - many good days, many bad, all really changed the person I am today

    4) Survived the hellish years of grad school

    5) Got married

    7) found my career

    8) TTC

    9) Travel to many amazing places with my love by my side

    10) our foster journey and becoming parents to sprout and rosebud.

    Wow. this has been one heck of a decade!

    4. Did Americorps*VISTA and met some amazing VISTA-friends who are still some of my best friends on earth.

    5.Started a mentoring program for queer youth in the foster care system.

    6. Learned that I didn't need to wait for someone else to create the program/social change/social group/community I was looking for

    7. Got an Emerson Hunger fellowship

    8. Traveled around Spain and Italy, alone.

    9. Applied for food stamps and documented my experiences.

    10. Met my kindred femme spirit and best friend.
