***Patty and Dana

What do you guys think of Corona or Ontario?  Any insight?

I'm thinking of moving out that way.  I still need to get to downtown for work, so I'm trying to stick close to the Metrolink.

Re: ***Patty and Dana

  • I would stay away from Ontario for the most part. There aren't really any "good" areas that I know of. Unless you're over towards Chino, some areas are nice that way.

Corona has it's good and bad areas. My aunt and uncle live in Corona Hills and love where they're at. They're off Foothill Pkwy between Lincoln and Main. That whole area up there is really nice. And they used to live off the 91/71 in the Green River community and it's really nice there too.

  • Late to the party as usual, but I pretty much agree with Dana.

They both have their super-ghetto areas, but they are still relatively family friendly cities. I'm not as familiar with Corona as I am Ontario but if I were you I would cruise your prospective neighborhoods and even go the extra mile and walk the streets and get a feel for the 'hood. Sometimes you really can't judge a book (or neighborhood) by it's cover (appearance). My parents 'neighborhood looks pretty ghetto, but it's a really nice quiet cul de sac next to a park and we've never had any issues in the past 6+ years here, plus at the time, it was a steal for about $230,000, it's managed to maintain it's worth (and even a little more) even in this crappy housing economy.

Remember to not get a house out of your means but rather something you can pay comfortably with money left over to save in case the market gets better in a few years and you can then upgrade! I'm saying "starter home" as opposed to "30 years plus" home for now. Just my opinion :) I'm living vicariously through your home search because we can't afford to buy right now, and I desperatley wish we could because there are some real gems out there right now for cheap! Good Luck!
