I'm back!!!

I was OOT for 12 days...went home to MI for xmas to visit family.  While it was great to see family and friends and I could have stayed a few days longer, it definitely feels soooooo good to be back home with the furbabies!

DH and I took the train home, which was an adventure in itself. It was 2 nights (2 1/2ish days) on the train each way. It would have been miserable if we had coach seats, but we had a roomette (seats turned into beds and we had a door to the room). It was actually really relaxing...it was kinda refreshing to be taken away from all of the usual conveniences like the internet! All of our meals were included each day as well and it was surprisingly yummy!

I actually taught myself how to knit on the ride and knit DH a hat and me a scarf...well the scarf is almost done.

I also read a really good book on GL called 'Practically Green'. I picked it up from the library before we went but I think I'm going to buy it because it had so much great information and tips for living green.  It's seriously a great book for someone who is new to green living...the author touches on pretty much every topic we've talked about on this board and does it in a very easy-to-understand way. There's also a bunch of recipes for various cleaning products, bath products, etc etc etc that I want to try out.

Re: I'm back!!!

  • Wow!  You had a really productive train ride!  I remember some friends from NY came to visit my family in Mississippi via train.  They had some crazy stories to tell.

I wish there was a passenger train line in my area.  I miss hopping on a train and going to Boston or NYC from where I used to live in CT.

  • That sounds really cool!  I kind of wish I could travel somewhere on a train!
  • Oh so fun!  I really want to learn how to knit!
