Anniversary Trip

Hi All,  We're trying to plan an Anniversary Trip in June. I'm looking to find a place along the east coast that's within driving distance from us - we live about an hour south of DC.  I'd love to go somewhere that has a beach for relaxation yet be able to do some fun outdoor stuff like hiking, kayaking, etc. Two places recommended to us were the Outer Banks in NC and Folly Beach in SC. Does anyone have any thoughts on these two locations or recommendations on other places we might like?  Thanks for your thoughts!

Re: Anniversary Trip

  • Hi! :) I really love the Outer Banks. I can't speak for Folly Beach because I've never been there. We make multiple trips to the Outer Banks over the summer for day trips. The beach is nice and if you go past Nags Head, you can just part on the side of the road and go out to the beach. DH and I are able to spend a lot of time together because the beach we go to isn't very crowded. I know there are some other things to do in Nags Head and other cities around, you can just google that. We just go for the beach.

In most cases, the rentals there have to be rented for a week. HTH! I'll see if I can't find some more stuff out, like things to do! :)

  • Thank you so much for your reply! I've heard great things about the Outer Banks and am glad to hear that someone else agrees :). Thanks again!
  • I don't know if this is the type of thing you're looking for, but we went to Charleston for our anniversary and explored the town for a few days.  We stayed at the Mills House Hotel, which has a lot of history.  I highly recommend it.
