Problem for SEC announcers

They are now going to have to find something else to talk about.  I started watching the Sugar Bowl on mute because it was just getting far too ridiculous.

A "Tebow Cam"?  Give me a fuucking break.

Fuuck TTC - I'm moving on.

Re: Problem for SEC announcers

  • I know.  I asked my dad if next year it was going to be like watching a silent movie.

  • Say what you will, but you'll never see a better college football player. Go Gators!

  • I hope Bama was watching last night.  THAT'S how you handle adversity, fellas.  Hopefully they were taking some notes so they don't embarrass the SEC in the future.

  • Oh, and I know your favorite thing is to bash Urban / Florida / Tebow so you might not have caught this through your crimson-colored glasses, but had you actually been listening to the game, the announcers spent 80% of the game focusing on Tebow's flaws as a pocket passer, NOT singing his praises.
    Lilypie Second Birthday tickersimage
  • 80%?? Really.  The minute one guy started talking about it the other one got pissy because he was "comparing him to Dan Marino".  They didn't even bring any of that up until the second half anyways so there is no mathmatical way it could have been 80%.

What are you talking about here?  What adversity has Florida had to go through?

  • I too am curious as to where the adversity comes in. Was it losing a game? That's adversity? Or was it playing in an extremly mismatched game and running the score up with starters playing the entire game? Is that the adversity we should be learning from? I do believe Alabama was sitting in another score to further embarrass Florida and they took a knee instead. I guess they didn't pay to close attention to Florida's teaching.

  • Are you serious? 80%? Were you watching a different game or something?

All I can say, is thank god that is over with! I am so sick of listening to them talk about Tim Tebow. It is like they forget there are 21 other players on the field plus countless others on the sidelines.

    ditto

...and I am not wearing crimson-colored glasses.

  • The 'adversity' I am speaking of is going through a tumultuous few weeks of a major let down and numerous coaching changes.  Last year, Bama went through something similar (losing to Florida in the SEC), and responded by getting pounded by Utah in the Sugar Bowl.  One could argue that that game was similarly 'mismatched,' but Alabama simply didn't come to play.

All I'm saying is that I'm very proud of these boys for working through the distractions and putting on a fine performance.  We couldn't ask for anything more from them.

And MBR, I'm really wondering what you're going to do with all your free time next season, now that you won't have Tebow to b*tch about 24-7.  I'm sure you'll come up with something, though.  Wink

  • I wouldn't call that adversity. I would say all along the team knew that Meyer was going to stay. He just said that crap to hype up his game. Why else would he announce his leave then as soon as his game was said and done say he was going to be the coach? And don't get me wrong, I actually like Urban Meyer, I just think he had an ulterior motive.

  • How about getting embarrassed in the 1995 Fiesta Bowl by Nebraska in the NC game, and coming back the next year to beat FSU for the NC game. Does that count as adversity? I'd say so.

I think what pp meant by "adversity" was stuff that the CURRENT team has dealt with over the last few weeks...not things that happened over a decade ago and really have nothing to do with this team.

  • Um, yeh. I am sure something that happened in 1995 really matters to this team.

Well then, I think that not wanting to pull a Bama and getting blown out in your bowl game after losing the SEC championship is motivation enough, plus to show why this team's senior class is the winningest class in SEC history.

Best of luck Bama, please show up to the NC game like you did in the SEC title game. If so, you'll easily win. Don't play like you did most of the season or you will lose. (See Auburn and Tennessee)

Edit: I'd say that we overcame adversity last year losing to Ole Miss and ran the table. Let's see, how about a 4th qtr comeback against Bama in the SEC title game last year? It IS the same team, as we returned 20 starters. Hmmm, how about Tebow taking the game over against OU after throwing two INTs in the first half of last years title game, bringing Florida from behind to win? Does that count? If not, then I don't think anything will meet the 'adversity' criteria.

You never know. In 1992 Duke beat UK in one of the greatest basketball games ever played on the college court. Six years later, Scott Padgett, a UK player, had a lights out game versus Duke in the first meeting between the two schools since then. Scott was 14 when he watched Duke beat UK in '92 and told reporters that he cried that day, and wanted nothing more than to beat Duke for that embarrassing loss. Enough of this for me today, off to the beach.

Umm that point is still not that valid.  You didn't play Cincy back in 1995.

Unfortunately Tebow is arguably one of the best college football players and this class is one of the best the SEC has ever seen, so you'll be hearing about them long into the future. Get used to it.

  • I am not saying Tebow is not good. But, damnn do we really have to listen to the announcers talk about him the ENTIRE game. There are other people out there, and there is actually a game being played.

Adversity? You mean, like, not having a coach for the bowl game? Because I believe that was Cincy's problem, not Florida's.

No, I mean, like, having undergone a disappointing blow weeks before, and having the future o your program in complete upheaval. Nor taking away what the Cincy players had to deal with. There was plenty of turmoil on both sidelines.

Umm, I was showing that previous games can make a difference in current bowl games. Bama got killed by Utah last year after getting *** smacked by Florida. UF didn't want to repeat that. I don't give a flying f*ck about UC, because they aren't good at football or basketball.

Look on the bright side, your Mildcats might actually beat my Gators twice in one season, first time in a LONG time, since we've owned your ass for a while now. You finally got good. And I'm a FORMER Wildcat fan. Peace.
