"Green" Counter Tops?
What's the most eco-friendly counter top option? I don't like stainless steel for the counter tops, and I'm crazy and can't stand Granite. Any other suggestions? I'm trying to create a cost estimate for my hubby...
Re: "Green" Counter Tops?
My favorite is Squak Mountain Stone. It has the most gorgeous texture, depth and is so warm feeling. Alkemi's recycled metal countertops and Paperstone are tied for second. If only we had the money to replace ours.
Edit: Okay, scratch Alkemi. It's not your typical stainless steel countertop but you might not like it since it's metal.
Tired after a long morning of hiking and swimming.
Oh how could I forget this?! Someone told me about this back when we were buying last year and I was obsessed for a while. I'll have to look into this again! Thanks.
LOVE Squak Mountain! I only spent 5 minutes on the site but I'm sold. I don't think DH will go for the glass option (for the kitchen anyway, I can probably get it for the bathroom), so this will be a great example to show him. I also do like Alekmi, I've book marked this one as well. I just don't like the stainless steal counters like you see in restaurants and stuff. It reminds me of the three months I worked a Quiznos *shudders*
TY!
Concrete is another option like this company:

Wood is a top EF candidate for counter tops: http://greenhomeguide.com/know-how/article/choosing-kitchen-countertops-our-top-picks
I don't know what "the most green" option is, but some green options are concrete and recycled glass. There's also some EF bamboo/wood/tile options.
This is a store in my area that has some helpful info.
