Did the last decade suck for you?

I really enjoyed 2000-2009. Pros:

I met and married DH, who I've been madly in love with since 2002

Spent lots of time in Europe with DH-prob will never be that free together again

Got undergrad. Had a blast in college.

Moved to a state with tons of like-minded peeps

DH rapidly promoted in his field

Expecting baby!!

Cons:

DH and I got ourselves into some serious debt-mostly bc we were irresponsible, but to some degree bc we were just starting out and our salaries sucked. Mine still does-DH is doing really well. 

So-We're hoping the next decade will be better for us-mainly bc we've learned the hard way how to be responsible and are working ourselves out of this mess. I'm optimistic.

So many people have it so much worse than we do-I truly hope things look up for them soon.

Graduated HS

Bought first home

Turned 21

Sold first home for a major profit

Got amazing job

Met DH at amazing job

Bought home with DH

Married DH

 

Cons:

DH and I both lost our jobs

Stopped speaking to my mother (or vice versa, really)

Dad's wife became wacko and caused major family sh!t

Was robbed

Had car broken into (twice)

DH and I suffered MAJOR tragedy for the two of us

Started college

Became political and social activist

Started volunteering

 

Last decade was a hard one for me family-wise, but I changed and learned SO much about myself and the world around me.  But I started the decade at 16, so I guess that was to be expected!

I can't wait to see what this decade has in store for me.

This decade has been really great for me!  Yes, there were some things that were sad (my mom moving back to the East Coast, my grandfather passing away, Sept. 11th), but all in all, it was really good.

I met DH, bought a house, went back to school, got married, got some good promotions, got pregnant and am graduating.

So all in all, it was good!

This last decade brought a lot of stress and turmoil into my life (grad school, moving, family drama regarding my wedding, family drama regarding my sister, finding work, moving again), but all of that led me to where I am now - and I've probably never been happier.  My relationship with my immediate family has changed immensely and we actually get along now.  I re-connected with DH (and of course, married him).  I finished my degree (which felt like it was never going to happen!) and got workin'.  And of course, we got our dog!  I can't wait to see what 2010 brings!

Yeah, unfortunately it had to be done.  Although at the time it was NOT my decision.  If only we could pick our parents...

And of course your next decade will be amazing - you will have little AC to keep you entertained!!

Yeah, I figure things can only look up for a lot of us, so I'm optimistic. Cant wait to meet you IRL!

There were certainly parts I could have done without, but the whole decade sucking? Not really. I definately had some highlights when I look back.

I'm super late on this post! But.....overall the decade was great I try to always look at the positive in life and forget the negative (although sometimes this isn't good as in I forget how terrible some people were to me and then I let them back in my life and they're terrible to me again...okay tangent sorry) anyway....so yeah. My MIL passed away a month and a half after we got married which was awful...but in the same decade, DH and I met, got married, we both graduated college, DH started law school, so TONS of great things happened!
