New to Ft. Knox

Hi Ladies! My husband and I are military new to Ft. Knox. We moved here from NY 3 months ago. I'm still on active duty but my husband is a truck driver and is gone all the time. Being 23 and newly married makes it hard to make friends. Anyone else new to the area?

Re: New to Ft. Knox

  • I'm not exactly new anymore, but it still feels like it.  I moved to Louisville just over 2 years ago.  I know what you mean about it being hard to make friends!  I moved, started a new job, bought our first house, and got married all in less than a year.  That doesn't leave much time to get out and meet new people!
  • Welcome to Kentucky! My husband and I moved to Lexington from Florida in August, and I am still trying to build a social circle here. I have found a few local organizations, which has helped me meet some new friends. It's tough, though!

  • A friend of mine made up a song called "Welcome to Kentucky" to the tune of Will Smith's "Welcome to Miami" and it's going through my head right now! Anyway, welcome!  I came here from Alabama for college and stayed around, so I've got pretty good friends from school.  Are you religious at all?  Church is how DH and I expanded our social circle.
