Hard Rock Park

Has anyone been to Hard Rock Park in Myrtle Beach? Dh and I have a house there in Surfside and we're leaving Saturday for the entire week.

We went to the "backstage tour" twice before it opened and we enjoyed that. I was just curious if anyone's been yet! Thanks.

Re: Hard Rock Park

  • I have not personally been but we were at the beach over the 4th of July and I talked to several people who had been there.  Everyone had fun, but still seemed a little dissapointed in the ride/rollercoaster selection.  I heard several times "there's really only ONE good coaster."

So I guess it depends on what you are going for.  If you're a coaster enthusiast then you may be a bit dissapointed, but since you have a house there, I'll bet you can even get some sort of "resident" discount.  I'm sure it's a decent way to spend a day, just don't go expecting to ride the best coasters in the world there.

Let us know if you go and what you think of it.

  • DH and I live right off 707!(random side note)  I haven't personally been to the park, but I know lots of people who have.  My DH actually works down there occassionally.  There are mixed feelings from everyone I have talked to.  Some people really love it, but several people I have talked to have been a little disappointed in it.  I don't think  it was what people expected, as far as replacing the Pavillion or anything.   DH enjoys it and has been there a few times, I am not much of a ride person so I just haven't gone yet.  Hope it helps!  But I would wait and go during a time where they are discounting tickets if you are a NC or SC resident.  That way if you don't enjoy it you won't be out much money.
  • DH and I also live in Surfside.  We went to HRP for the soft opening and got in for free.  It was great--because it was free!  There is only one good coaster and it is pretty adult themed (we went with kids and they didn't get a lot of it especially the Nights in White Satin ride).  I would try it once just because.  Unless they really begin discounting it I am not sure it will last.  The draw of the beach, in my opinion, is the beach!!
