1/4 question

What are you currently reading?  Are you a big reader?

I used to read a ton, but I've gotten lazy and it's a new goal to read more.  I've gotten into Pat Conroy books and I'm currently reading Beach Music.  It's a great book, and it made me order some more books by him.

Re: 1/4 question

  • last book I really got into was South of Broad by Pat Conroy. I read that simply b/c Charleston is my hometown...and LOVED it. It was the first Conroy novel that I've read and I'm seriously considering reading more of his work.
I was an English (lit) major in college so I absolutely love to read-to the point of everything else gets put on pause when I find something I'm interested in.
I read the Twilight series, and am actually looking for the "psychology of twilight" book at B&N. I love to get to the brass tacks of a story and figure out the mindset of the writer and characters at the most basic level.

I'm definitely looking for the next good read though... :-)

  • I never was much of a reader, but in the past few years I have tried to get more into it.

I have read quite a few Danielle Steele books for the fun of it. Also, I read Chelsea Handler's books, Lucille Ball's biography, and Helen Keller's autobiography.

As far as reading for fun, DH and I like comics, so we read those weekly.

Currently I am reading The Last Lecture as my non-fiction book. I try to always be reading some non-fiction. It is a great book. I love having it arounf whenever I'm down/upset bc it really gives you good perspective. When I finish it, I have two books about tea and its meaning and history. I'm excited to start them.

  • The Twilight books were the last ones that I really got into.  I read the series straight through and have read books one and two twice.  I'll wait until closer to the movie release before reading the third book again.

I love any sort of book that has a simple plot line and is easy to read.

Before Twilight the last thing I really enjoyed reading is the Harry Potter series. Embarrassed

I'm currently reading Bitter is the New Black.  It's cute, light, and fun.

  • I liked South of Broad more- but I find Pat Conroy, although a beautiful writer, to be a bit cliched in his stories.

I just bought 2 new books- The Darkest Child by  Delores Phillips and Flying Changes by Sara Gruen because I loved, loved, loved Water for Elephants.

  • Good Night Moon, Guess How Much I love You, Snuggle Up Sleepy Ones, Brown Bear Brown Bear,...

Oh wait you meant what books am I reading?  Okay those are my daily reading books.

     My grown up books are:

Currently reading 7th Heaven by James Patterson (it's the Woman's Murder Club Series).  I have #8 on deck.  Hope to finish #7 this week and start #8.

Oh and I also read My "What to Expect in the 1st year" book.  I read a chapter a month (to coincide with what month DS is).

  • I recently finished "The Good Earth" by Pearl Buck.   Now I'm onto a pile of 50 magazines that my mom has given me in the last year.

I also recently read South of Broad.   I thought that it was good but agree that Pat Conroy uses the same characters over and over and over.  Still, they're entertaining.   My favorite is The Lords of Discipline even though it made me cry more than any other book ever.
