quick! Crockpot help

I have a crock pot and some chicken thighs defrosted.  I've googled but couldn't find a decent receipie.  If you know of a good website please put the link here. I have 30 minutes to send hubby a grocery list.

Re: quick! Crockpot help

  • Chicken broth, egg noodles, carrots, celery, onion, s&p, maybe some rosemary or thyme. You'll have a nice chicken stew.

  • do you want a soup/stew recipe or just some kind of sauce to cook the chicken in?

I can't use her reciepies.  I just don't have her talent.

I'm looking for an all in one type thing where I come home and just scoop that SOB onto a plate and eat.

  • It's hard to do a one pot meal with bones in it.  I would slow cook the chicken in some broth with celery, carrots, s&p and some other spices as you see fit, then debone, add the meat back to the broth and then add dumplings to cook for another 30-60 minutes.  Do they sell frozen dumblings there?  That might be a midwest/south thing.

  • Frozen dumplings? They're just flour and milk!

I'd do chicken BBQ or chicken stew, with a little white wine.

  • Why would you have to boil the veggies?  Bizarre.  They'll cook plenty in 7 hrs in a crockpot.
  • Aw, you can't serve it with hot, UNcooked rice? But that's my favorite!

That sounds good, but I'm with 6 - omit the extra simmering step. Just throw everything in the crockpot and go.

I hate the mess of rolling out dough.  A frozen package of dumplings for $1.99 is worth it to me.
