spa rec please :)

I want a massage for my birthday and DH needs a suggestion for a good place. Looking for something relaxing and a bit indulgent. (New mommies need - but rarely receive - pampering!) It can be a splurge, but nothing ridiculously expensive. Oh, and it should be in Portland; I prefer the city, but will consider anywhere in the metro area.

Anyone have a place they love?

Re: spa rec please :)

  • I love the Aveda spas.  The products they use are great and I've never had a bad experience at any of them.

  • Blah, don't go to Dosha. Beautiful facilities but I think the quality of the services leaves something to be desired.

The Dragontree is on NW Thurman and 27th and is a great space. They take kind of a holistic health approach to their spa treatments but I've really been impressed with the treatments I've received there.

Have you heard of Zenana Spa? It's in SE, Clinton area, and specifically caters to pregnant women and mommies. I've only been there for a mani pedi but liked the facility and the service. I think they have a coupon on PortlandMonthly's website too.

  • I think its called Aquius or something like that. I've been dying to go there.
  • I go to Akasu for hair/brow and was going there for massages up until massage therapist, Kathryn, started her own company. I hear Akasu has 2 new massage therapists, but I have not used them (I still go there for other services and love it).

I do recommend Kathryn. She started Mudita Massage in St. Johns, if you're just looking for a massage. She just moved to a new location in St. Johns in the past couple of weeks, not sure what it's like, but she is a miracle worker.

Oops. I missed the part of you being pregnant. She actually doesn't do pregnancy massages, darn it. :( Sorry. But check out akasu.
