FL girls (or anyone who has been to the Orlando area)...
What are some fun things to do in/around Orlando besides the obvious theme parks? M and I are trying to figure out when I'm going to plan a trip out there with him and neither of us (he's not been able to explore when he's there for TNA) have been there before. We're going to split up the theme parks between trips, but I would like to do other fun things there too. My first time there might be for V-day, but I'm still not sure. Flights are way too expensive still, I'm hoping they'll drop soon... But any ideas and advice on fun things to do there is greatly appreciated! : )

Re: FL girls (or anyone who has been to the Orlando area)...
Orlando just opened a Waldorf Astoria...pricey hotel, but I'm dying to stay in it! Not sure when this will happen, though...I priced it for Valentine's weekend, and it was about $450 / night (duh?).
We live in downtown Orlando, and even though we avoid the parks like the plague, find plenty of things to do. One of our favorite areas is Park Ave. Winter Park -- just north of downtown (so very north of Kissimmee / where the parks are), and is 'home' to lots of cute shops, restaurants, wine bars, etc. One of the WP lakes also offers a boat tour, which is a perfect activity for a sunny (cool) afternoon!
Obviously, you can't go wrong with some of the attractions. In our partying days, we liked going down to City Walk at Universal. Lots of stuff going on there!
Let me know when y'all end up planning your trip!
He could try his hand at Gator Wrestling! We were in the area last summer and went to Gatorland-cheesy, yes, but one of the skids likes animals A LOT. We did Universal-which was fun! We also did Disney Quest-which I hated, but I'm not a gamer type person. Went to one waterpark-was told Blizzard Beach-in Disney was the best-it was fun!... We stayed outside the parks, but I didn't see much else other than touristy things: mini-golf, those restaurants where there's a knight's theme...
Hope the FL girls have more info, but this is my 2 cents!
If you don't want to do or need a break from the parks...there is CityWalk (they also have karaoke and a piano bar if you're not into clubbing - they also have restaurants like Margaritaville and a movie theater). Hard Rock is also at CityWalk. Firkin Kegler is fun (bar, restaurant, bowling, and arcade). I've heard Mount Dora has some nice shops, etc. Phantom of the Opera is playing at the Bob Carr Center until Valentine's day if you like theatre. If you go more to the East coast, there's the space center.
What do ya'll like to do? Oh, and there's Blue Man group at Downtown Disney.
