Wedding rehearsal Dinner decor?
I'm helping coordinate the rehearsal dinner for my cousin's wedding. It's at a local Mexican restaurant this Friday. The tables are simple and orange/red mosaic style. They do not provide linen napkins; they're paper.
Should I even be trying to do any decor? I'm serving as the coordinator so I can't go early to decorate. I have a few things on hand but then the whole look is very Mexican Fiesta.
Perhaps paper placemats out of craft paper and maybe create some napkin rings then finish off with 3 simple centerpiecs of vase with a single flower and some votives?
I need to do this on a tight budget too. Any other quick, simple ideas?
Re: Wedding rehearsal Dinner decor?
I agree. We recently had our 10 year reunion at a restaurant and someone asked me to put together some decorations. After checking out the place, I found that centerpieces really weren't necessary and since we had very limited time and an even more limited budget I didn't think it was worth it.
I'm glad I decided on that, because the place looked nice without anything.
If you really want to add something, sometimes the restaurants themselves will have some sort of centerpiece (flowers or candles) so I'd ask what they have first. If they don't have anything, ask if you can bring in small centerpieces. I'd probably go for something with candles since the tables have a busy pattern. Just make sure you specifically ask about candles though, some places have restrictions.
This. You can buy a bag of tea lights at Bed Bath and Beyond for a few bucks. It'll be a nice [and simple and cheap] romantic touch. Don't forget to bring a candle lighter!
I wouldn't bother. There's going to be so much going on, you don't want to have to remember to take stuff with you, set it up and then take it down. If you want a few candles for ambiance, go for some cheapie throw-aways.
One thing I regret about my wedding was that I and the people close to me put a lot of effort into meaningless details that took up too much time during the moments I should have been just having fun. Go and have fun.

I wouldn't really decorate, but I do like the idea of using vases with a single flower and votives... or floating candles or something like that
Something to make it special so it stands out from just going out to dinner...
