Re: Walk me through the process

  • Call your doctor, get a mammogram or an ultrasound of the breast tissue.  They can determine whether it needs to be biopsied based on the appearance of the lump, etc.

  • I guess you find the lump, call the doctor, get a mammogram and biopsy?
  • What do they do with the biopsy, is it a needle?

  • I kow some of it depends on age...they don't do mammograms on peeps under 35?  something like that.  Because the tissue is to dense to get a read...so they do an US.

But if I remember from my family right, tell doc.  Doc pokes and says it either has to be biopsied or they send you for mammogram &/or US.

Results of that lead to biopsy or 'nope, nothing'

(but it's been a few years since mom or sis found another one)

  • An MRI would be the best thing to determine if the lump is anything. Followed by a biopsy. Coworker just went through this and was told as much.
  • The biopsy is most likely done with a needle.

  • ditto the MRI. A cw and my aunt both had breast cancer that wasn't detected by a mamogram. I think those are becoming antiquated.
