Now what...POLL

Life seems a little like "now what?" since Christmas is over for DH and I...I'm just curious what keeps you ladies occupied?![Poll]

Re: Now what...POLL

  • I chose Hobby or Goal.  DH and I are running another half marathon in March, so that's occupying a lot of our time.

Also, we are starting to house hunt so this is an exciting time for us :)

  • I chose a ski trip b/c we're going cross country skiing today.

But really I'm glad to have a break from obligations for a little while.

  • Starting and finishing school Big Smile
  • I chose a hobby or goal. My main goal right now is to just keep thinking positively. I have so many good things in my life: a husband, money (regardless of how much I actually have :P), a house, a loving family, and the list goes on and on. I feel so much better thinking about the things that I DO have and focusing on those.

I also have a goal to be 10 pounds lighter in the next 7 weeks. :)

  • Good question!  I was just thinking that myself last night--now what??

My immediate answer was:  Play Nintendo for a little while and then go work on my organizing.

That of course was after we had done our run, did a little food shopping and ate dinner.

We found my old-school Nintendo when we went home for Christmas and brought it back with us.  It surprised us that it actually still works, though Super Mario 2 is a little tempermental.  It took a few tries to get my fingers back into it, but I'm rocking SM3.  If one could ever be "proud" of their video game playing prowess.  Huh?  I was disappointed that I didn't have the power pad anymore--I think that was the pre-cursor to Wii Fit!

But in all reality, I'm having trouble coming up with goals for the new year.  Last year was the first year I made some actual resolutions.  Some I kept, others I didn't, but I AM goal-oriented, so having that list helped me try to stay focused (and not do something as mind numbing as playing video games!).  The only thing that's on my list is to get myself better organized.  I'm the type to tear out magazine articles/recipes/pointers that I think are useful, good, or pertinent to our lives.  Most of the time those articles don't do anything but accumulate in various piles around the house--so my goal is to get all those articles put into plastic sleeves and then filed into various binders for better reference.

I'd like to continue doing some home improvements, but DH says he wants a "break" from doing them.  (Not like our house has been under any kind of  rennovation since early December, and even then, it was isolated to our living room--and it was just paint--not "major" in my book!)

  • Our next vacation or time away isn't until June and it sucks. I want to cry thinking I have to wait 6 months before I have any time off. But we are really trying to get out of debt this year. So we are cutting back on a lot.

  • I, of course, replied a Baby.  I'm trying super hard not to get overly wrapped up in it but it's hard.  I'm actually waiting for a call from the dr. today to give me the go ahead after our m/c last month.  I think I'm going to say Goal as well! I'm going to start running again after I found out I actually miss it haha!

This is SO me!!  I lost my Christmas money and gift cards over the weekend (could have sworn I put them in a drawer!) and ended up cleaning almost every single drawer in our home over the weekend!  I found lots of magazine articles everywhere!

  • My current goals are to finish sorting through my dad's posessions & close out his estate by June, & to read at least 10 pages a day from my newly inherited library.
  • we're doing house projects right now. getting our bonus room/office FINALLY updated with new workspaces and a customized craft/sewing area for me :) guess i'll be doing some sewing in the near future!
  • I'm counting down to DH's graduation on May 15th.  He's been in school for our entire relationship.  It will be so nice when he's finally done.
  • I am currently counting down to GRADUATION!  I will so glad when May 17th gets here and I am officially done with seminary!  Of course we are planning a vacation the next week to celebrate!

But I guess in the more immediate future, we hope to finalize Abby's adoption this month!

  • I chose a hobby or goal. I'm studying for a professional exam in April - I started in November but I really need to buckle down, the past few weeks have been soooo non-productive. It's the first in a series of two and I really don't want to fail and have to wait to take it again b/c I want to take the second next spring. I'm also considering a half marathon in the spring b/c I either need to get running or buy some new pants.
  • I said hobby/other - because work will consume my life for the next 4 months.
  • I chose "Nothing, just enjoying not having anything to do."  DS, work and daily life put enough on my plate most days, so I'm happy to take a breather for January and February and not have anything "extra" to do.

We'll likely be taking some road trips in the spring and summer for family events and at least one race for DH, so I'm looking forward to all that. But I'm good with those things being a few months away!

  • I answered "hobby or goal," but that goal is pretty much surviving this semester of grad school! Stick out tongue
  • Hobby or goal fits best I guess. I'm hoping to graduate in May, get into a PhD program, and I'm heading to Ecuador again this summer (hopefully a week or so with DH this time). Lots to panic about and look forward to :)
  • a Cruise! we are going on a 10 day carribean cruise in February!

  • I chose "nothing/relaxing" but in reality, our house is a disaster zone right now (moving + Christmas decs still up + out of town half of Dec.) & I have to paint the walls and get the bed for the spare bedroom from the in-laws.  These definitely aren't hobbies, though!

  • I picked goal...I got in such a funk towards the end of the year, my goal is to change my attitude and develop a more positive outlook.  Once you get into a deep funk it's kind of a vicious cycle, I think your mood can continue to bring more negative happenings to your life, which in turn makes the funk worse.  So 2010 is all about fresh starts.....
  • I have a baby so of course he is keeping me occupied.  In fact, I'm planning his first birthday party which is keeping me busy!

After that, I am going to get serious about starting an etsy business of sorts.  I'm not 100% sure what it will be but I really want to bring in some extra income and practice my craftiness.

  • I picked hobby or goal... DH will be home in four months (yay) and I'm re-doing his man-room before he gets here. No worries... only manly colors.
  • I picked Baby...and for a just a few days I felt that big let down, but knowing that we're finding out the sex in a few weeks and starting to plan the nursey helps fill that post-holiday void.

I also love how we're so focused on making plans in Dec. with family and friends, Jan. gets left out and we're suddenly filled with lots of downtime.  I am very much looking forward to lazy weekend mornings with DH and getting a few small projects done around the house without feeling over-extended.

  • I'm a special snowflake. haha I am looking forward to our one year anniversary next month (February 13th) and a trip to Gatlinburg.

  • I'm also a special snowflake.  I'm looking forward to our trip to Puerto Rico for my BIL's wedding :):):)
