The Y, Round Rock vs. Lifetime Fitness (North)

DH and I are trying to determine which one to join.  The Y is on our way home, Lifetime is much bigger with much more equipment......(pretty sure Lifetime is more expensive)

Suggestions?  Advice?  Recommendations?

Re: The Y, Round Rock vs. Lifetime Fitness (North)

  • I was a member at the Y in Cedar Park, it was nice, but they didn't have everything that I wanted at the time, so switched to 24 hour fitness. There is one in Round Rock, too.

I have gotten a tour at Lifetime, it is a huge gym, the lockers are very nice, but if the location is not easy and on the way home, we wouldn't have use it, so we kept our memebership at 24 hour fitness.

  • Good morning,

I have a membership at the Y-Northwest Location. I do like it but wanted something different. My brother is a personal trainer but is currently going to ATM College Station. He recommended me to a friend of his that has a group fitness workout. The classes are outside at Connally High School. I love it. It is all Medicine Ball. Being Pregnant I have not been able to go. The trainers are husband and wife. Awesome people and trainers. The group has gotten bigger. And very inexpensive to join. If you would like more info or their contact # please let me know.

    Thanks

     Elisa

  • I belong to Lifetime and have been happy there. I am a swimmer so the indoor and outdoor lap pools were the biggest draw for me. They are very clean and I rarely have to share a lane. We have also had a lot of fun as a family in the pools so that is a plus. I also use the equipment and have never waited for a machine. The locker rooms are always clean and I like the atmosphere. The daycare facility is excellent but we have had mixed experiences with the actual childcare. I have not taken any classes so can't comment on that. We used to belong to 24 hour fitness near the Arboretum and I think Lifetime is far superior but the cost is at least twice what we paid at 24 hour.
  • We used to go to Lifetime and I have no complaints.  There is so much equipment that no matter what time of day or day we went there was always a machine open that I wanted to use.  The locker rooms are really nice and I especially like the saunas in there.  I really like Lifetime.
