S/O Crockpots

One evening I had a hair appointment so I had the *great* idea of making sloppy joe's in the crockpot.  I cooked the meat, added the sauce and left it on low.

I am apparently a riTARD (said Hangover style) and came home to a house that smelled like burnt meat.

H actually said, "it smells really good".  I knew it was burnt IMMEDIATELY.

It was like crumbled, petrified meat.  Yum.

Needless to say, I ordered spaghetti to be delivered.  :-/

Re: S/O Crockpots

  • You could have put it on warm, but still, low shouldn't turn it into beef cardboard.

  • Yeah...it did.  I don't think I left enough liquid in there or had enough actual food in there.  LOL.  Live and learn.

  • I finally learned (after many failed attempts) that I cannot make spaghetti sauce in a crock pot. Other people may be able to, but it is not one of my talents. I must make it in my cast iron dutch oven (hee, I'm 12) it's the only way it turns out tasty.
