OPK brand question

DW has been using OPK sticks for over a year.  Since we are starting TTC again after a break, we are buying sticks again and wonder if anyone had better luck with FirstResponse or CB easy?  She used the former for about a year and we ended up buying CBE last time (store was out of FR).  Anybody have better luck with one than the other?  Her OPK+s tend to be on the light side, if that helps.  Thanks!

Re: OPK brand question

  • The digital ones  ( CBE?) worked best for us. They are a little pricey but so worth it, imho. There is no mistaking that smiley face :-)
  • I can't offer any comparison, but I used digital CBE and was very happy with them.  I had some store-brand non-digitals as well, but could tell that I would probably drive myself crazy judging shades of pink.  It was so nice to get clear yes or no results with the digital CBE.

  • We've been using the non-digital mostly, but maybe for the next trying cycle we will upgrade :)  I do remember how cool it was the one time we used digital and got the smiley.
  • the brand definitely made a difference for DW.  our fave were the digital CBEs (the smiley faces) but target brand also worked.  I believe FR are the ones that never fully turned for her.
  • Thanks everyone.  I think we will move to digitals.  We already have some non-digitals for this time just to track and will add in digitals to confirm.  Thanks again for your help.
  • I've been using internet or dollar store cheapies for most of the testing, and then fancier brand name tests to confirm when it looks close.   That lets me test multiple times a day if needed, which is how I discovered I surge around 2pm, and 11am tests are usually negative.  Some women also surge even later at night. Before I figured out my own personal best timing, I got a lot of hard to read OPKs from testing once a day, no matter what brand I used.

    Good luck!

  • Thanks Valancy.  We have tended to test multiple times a day during trying cycles so we don't miss it.  Sounds like we are not alone

  • I also like to test multiple times. I get internet cheapies form EPT.com. When we start back up I'm planning to use digitals for confirmation. Best of luck!
