We are planning on giving raffle tickets to students if they attend an event that we host. The more events they attend the more chances they get at the drawing.

I am looking for ideas on what to have for the prize. My first thought was a Kindle but then realized that some students might not be interested in this. I would like to keep it some what related to career planning.

Several Wii's were given away last year and so I don't know if it has been overdone at this point.

I just checked the price of the new google phone and it is $500+ so I know my boss won't go for that and I think the iphone would be cool but I hate restricting the phone provider to AT&T.

Are there other tech gadgets that you would want as part of a raffle. Would you be motivated by any of these to attend workshops on Resume writing?

Could you do just an amazon gc? I know it's not techy or directly career related but they could use it for many things they might need (books, electronics, etc). Just a thought!

I wouldn't do anything that requires any type of further cost to them to use it.  Like with a Kindle you have to buy books and with a phone you have to buy service.  I know, at least in my case, my parents would never have given me any money toward a phone or eBooks.  I am sure so many other parents can't/wont give their kids any money so they could use it.  And those may be the students who need the extra incentive!  A laptop would be awesome, I bet Dell or some other company may even have a special discount for something like this.

how about that smart pen? not sure if that is the proper name for it. i know best buy advertized them in their ads before x-mas, and my cousin (a college student) wanted one in the worst way, she would not stop talking about it

The pp had some good ideas, but what about a gift card, maybe for amazon.com? We gave my SIL (college student) one for Christmas, and she was really excited. She said there was a lot of stuff that she was planning to order from there for school.
