I read an article in the newspaper the other day that they weren't allowing smoking in Hooka bars. I've never been to one, but it seems to me like we should let them smoke there, seeing as how that's what the entire business is centered around... any other opinions or further knowledge about that?
That is true about hookah bars, and I'm not saying I agree with it, but I can see why they have to adhere to the law, too. If hookah bars were exempt from the new law, all it would take is any bar/restaurant to install a couple of those pipes, call themselves a "hookah bar" and there ya go, they skirt the law.
I believe even cigar bars had to stop selling alcohol if they wanted to continue to operate.

This local hookah bar has found a loophole! The NC film commission lobbied for an amendment in the law that allows smoking while filming. In other words, actors/performers in a movie can smoke in a scene. If that amendment wasn't there, a movie that called for smoking couldn't be filmed in NC.
So.... a local hookah bar makes its patrons sign a waver saying they agree to be shown live on the web. It's ingenious.
