Please bear w/me - a very important cooking question
So, the recipe says to shred some cheese (fontina). It was so soft and almost impossible to shred. So I put it in the food processor instead and now it's just plain clumpy.
wtf do I do now?
Re: Please bear w/me - a very important cooking question
After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!
But I promised her I'd cook for her on Wednesday. I'm such a fail in the kitchen.
I just gave the dogs some squash and fontina cheese. At least they appreciate my effort.
what do you need the fontina for? if it's just melting it on top of a casserole or something, just break up the clumps.
does your food processor have a grating blade? if so, you could try putting it through again with the correct blade attached.
i feel sorry for your friend.
The recipe calls for fontina dammit! Do you think the deli will shred fontina for me? I am going to the store tomorrow and I pray that they do. I just gave 2/3 of the clumpy fontina to the dogs.
My processor only has 1 blade.
My poor friend. I am cooking Wednesday and she is cooking Thursday and I saw that she is making something fancy like cocoa ve quene or something like that.
coq au vin? your friend is smart--this is a very impressive dish that is way cooler-looking and delicious than you would think. still not easy, but not as hard as it looks.
the deli might if you ask nicely. or they may slice it thinly for you, which you can then just slice into shreds when you get home.
h+p to your friend.
Will you also be baking her your world famous cookies?

High.
Larious.
wtf did i post? i meant to say it looks like a lot more work than it is.
i think you should have made her adobo instead. and sent me the leftovers.

This would have been my suggestion. Same thing works for mozzarella or any other soft cheese that needs to be shredded.
DEAD.
Seriously.
RIP Claire.
Someone wasn't supposed to see this thread.
Good thing I have my spies!
Seriously, D -- PLEASE don't stress. Thursday I'll give you my Cooking Light cookbook to play with. It has a ton of foolproof recipes that helped me a lot when I first started cooking. Four years ago, I didn't even know how to scramble eggs, and now look at me!
And PP is right -- coq au vin sounds impressive but is so easy. And next week you're getting a 10-minute-prep tamale casserole.
See this?
This is a sad trombone moment.
dead.
and buried.
weemz, I didn't think I could love you more, but now I do.
