If your house were on fire, and all living beings were out safely, and you had time to run in to save ONE material item, what would it be and why?
If you want to list more than one thing, that's fine, but list them with the one most important item at the top.
Re: 1/6 - one posession
I would grab this cathedral window quilt that my grandmother made when I was little. It's actually double the size that it looks. It fits a queen size bed, but I doubled it over so I can use it as a bedspread in the guest room.
It has monetary value. A mint condition hand-stitched cathedral window of this size sells for around $800-1000 but the monetary value doesn't matter at all to me as I would never sell it.
It's just how I most fondly remember my grandmother. She worked on the quilt for a couple years, and so many of my memories of her include her working on a square of the quilt while we did other activities together.
The chest in my upstaris closet, no question. It is filled with all my old photo albums from middle school to now. The only thing missing from it is our wedding album bc I have it in our coffee table downstairs to easily access to show people. I totally would grab it too and chuck it into the chest =P.
Our birth certificates, ss cards, voters registration, wedding video etc. are all in the fire/water proof chest upstairs, so I'd leave it bc it'd all be safe once all was said and done. But if I could grab it, I'd rather be safe than sorry with leaving it behind.
I'm trying to imagine you with a chest of drawers strapped to your back scaling a set of stairs with fire flames dancing around you.
Quite an ambitious rescue if I do say so myself
Lol it's not a chest of drawers...my bad on that explanation. It's an army chest, like a toy box. I could carry it on my own but it'd be difficult. It's much easier to have one person on each side just bc of the shape. And I think DH would be in this with me. It's his grandfather's old army chest, so I know it means a lot to him.
Def the box of Photo albums. There are albums from the wedding, when Hubby and i first dating, and Our London and Paris Trip. I would die if I lost these. I'm slowly scanning them online so if something god forbide would happen I could get them back.
Well if I was in a hurry and had to get out of my burning house quickly I would grab a shopping bag (we hang them by the front door for grocery trips) and rush upstairs and grab as many of my DVD's (did I mention I was obsessed with my Tv show DVDs) and put them in the shopping bag. This woukd also include my wedding DVD (since it's on the same shelf). Also my wedding album (hmmm I wonder where that is- I should find out in case I really do need to grab it in a rush). Oh and maybe some photo albums or the discs since they would be easy to carry. Oh and my laptop. Boy my hands sure would be full.

So excited to meet Amelia Catherine!
Does my cat count as a possession? No not really...she's family.
My piccolo would probably be the first thing I saved. When I bought it, it had been out of production for over 10 years, and I was just lucky enough to be able to buy it. My teachers had told me that if I could buy one of these, to snatch it up.
If not wearing it...I'd definitely grab my engagement ring. Its a family heirloom and I wouldn't want to lose it.
