Where would you go for GREAT Tex-Mex?

ILs are visiting and I have learned my lesson.  They are NOT foodies and don't seem to enjoy the restaurants that dh and I frequent. Last time they were here we took them to El Mirasol on Blanco which is our fav mexican place. They didn't enjoy it at all... FIL wants sizzling fajitas.  SO where should I take them? Where can FIL get amazing sizzling fajitas?  That is what he always orders... it will not change.

Alamo Cafe? Chuy's? La Hacienda? Paloma Blanca? (yuuum... I love Paloma Blanca... which means they probably wouldn't right??)

tia! We're going tomorrow (Thursday) night.

  • Your ILs are a tough crowd!! Okay, maybe they will like Rosario's down on S. Alamo...I'm almost 100% sure that their fajitas sizzle. Our old secretary used to call it gringo food, so maybe they will like it?!

If not Rosario's, I know Panchito's fajitas sizzle for sure. Good luck with that one!! Let us know where you decide to take them because this thread is already making me drool!!!

  • El Jarro is always a fave

  • Mamacitas fajitas always sizzle.

I am not sure if they would like Rosarios if they do not like El Marisol.  But I have only eaten at each place once and I think they are similar in cuisine.

You could try Mi Tierra and get some sight seeing in.

  • For fajitas we like Alamo Cafe. Plus the queso cannot be beat!
  • I love El Marisol!! I can't believe they didn't like it. I would also suggest Panchitos

  • I like La Hacienda if it's nice out, I don't think their inside is that nice.

Thats seriously the only Mexican place I let Mike take me. Maybe we should go out somewhere amazing and I can learn to love Mexican more.

  • I know for a fact they wouldn't like El Jarro or Rosarios...

Alamo Cafe is where I'm leaning towards....

  • Just another suggestion to throw out there...Ajuua. It's on the corner of Huebner and Vance Jackson. They have awesome margaritas (at least they did a year ago..it's been awhile!) and their food is good. I'm surprised they didn't like El Mirasol...that place is good! You could also try Tomatillo's on Broadway.

  • Los Barrios. I haven't had their fajitas, but know they come out sizzling. I haven't had anything bad there.
