GudonyaToo Observation (Poll, Sort Of...)

I just ran out of my first jar (Oh-So-Delicious) and started my second jar (Citrus Splash).  I noticed that Citrus Splash is much easier to suds up!  I didn't even have to add any extra water to my hair like I did with Oh-So-Delicious.  It was sudsy from the moment it touched my hair and covered it better.  With OSD I had to use two applications to feel like my hair was *really* clean where I only had to do on with CP.

I'm not sure if it's just the scent combo or if she's improved something, but I know some people were wondering about this.  So out of curiosity- what scent do you have and do you feel it's easy to suds up?

Re: GudonyaToo Observation (Poll, Sort Of...)

  • I too have OSD and had to do two shampoos for it to suds up...I only have like 3 or 4 washes left though and then I can try my other two scents I have. Weird, though....I'm curious to see what my other two scents are like...

  • Interesting. I also have OSD and I have to add extra water to my hair to get it to lather, but I've never felt like I had to apply more than once to get my hair clean. Then again, my previous shampoo was "No Poo" by Deva (which doesn't lather at all - feels like conditioner), and before that I "conditioner only" washed my hair, so I've never felt the need for lather. In fact, for the most part, shampoos only lather because ingredients have been added to them to make them do that (usually SLS, though I know GT is SLS-free, so I'm not sure what's added to it to make it lather). But lathering isn't necessary to getting clean, despite what most people seem to think.

I haven't tried any other GT scents, but I'm curious to hear what others have to say!

  • My Cha Cha Chai lathers up nicely with the addition of water, and I only feel like I need to wash once.  My hair feels "squeaky" clean using it though, which I know means it's probably stripping off too many oils.
  • I have the shampoo and conditioner in the vanilla scent. I don't think the shampoo lathers as much as my non-EF shampoo did. My hair still feels clean and actually is more manageable than it was before, which is all I care about.
  • I've been using the Tahitian Vanilla shampoo and it lathers up pretty easily for me.  I do make sure my hair is soaking wet, though.  I scoop some up while my head is under the water, and then slap it straight on my hair and start lathering.

The first day I did it, I tried rubbing my hands together to distribute the shampoo and that didn't work at all because my  hair had dried out enough that I had to rewet to get a lather.

  • Does shampoo have to lather for your hair to feel clean? I have used some Aubrey shampoo and it didn't lather but my hair still felt clean even after swimming.

No, not really, but in my case the OSD didn't break down at all and I couldn't get enough in one scoop (one pea-size like she says) to cover my whole head.  It's like I would start rubbing it into the top of my head and by the time I reached my tips I was just rubbing my hair with bare hands. I have long-ish hair but it's not thick so it did frustrate me a bit.  But the CS spreads much better.

  • My first Gudonya shampoo was the strawberry and it has been easier for me to suds up than my current Tahitian Vanilla shampoo.
