Night class

I decided to go back to school to extend my certification so that I can also teach English to grades 5 and 6. In theory, I am excited about it. While I won't be able to use it in my current district, I hope that I can use it or at least the skills I learn sometime in the future. The good news is that the classes only go through mid-March, but the bad news is that they are on Thursdays from 4-7:20 pm and Saturdays from 8am-noon. They are not every week, but almost.  I am most stressed bc I get out of work at 3, and the school is about 1 hour and 10 minutes away, and I stress about being late. The teachers sais not to worry about it, but I hate being late. OK vent over!

Re: Night class

  • Where was your grad program through?  I assume Union?

I went to Albany and they had this as part of the program already so I got it when I got my other certification.

Good luck!  I'm sure you'll be fine.

  • Good luck with your class!  I am taking night classes to get my Masters, and I think most professors understand that a lot of the students taking night classes are working professionals and can't miss work for class.  If you've been upfront with them, I wouldn't stress about being late.

  • Good for you!  Chances are, with the snow in our area, most students will end up being late!!
  • I teach a night class 2 nights a week, and although we're supposed to start at 6, I don't actually start until 6:10 or 6:15 b/c I KNOW people are coming from work, and may get held up with traffic a bit. Sounds like your class is 10 weeks- and that'll go faster than you can imagine. Congrats on getting additionally certified (must..resist...urge...to make "certifiable" joke.)
