Okay, since only Philly will validate my new haircut, let's move on to another topic.
Do you have a five year plan? What is it?

Re: Five year plan
I cannot validate what I cannot see! You need to start hosting your photos on a non-photo hosting site. Just use weebly to upload all your pics and then I can see them at work.
No, no 5 year plan. DH doesn't really like plans. I can say that within 5 years I see ourselves as parents and homeowners, but that's all I got.

I am in like year two of the old five year plan.
years 1 and 2: classes at UCLA
year 3: get my teaching job back, try to have a kid, work on dissertation (or quit the program entirely)
year 4: repeat year 3
year 5: finish dissertation and graduate (if I don't quit, keep working as a teacher if I do)
Now that I have the opportunity to get a research job, that whole plan may be out the window. If I love the research, I will for sure stay and finish and not go back to teaching for some time/ever.

I finally made it in to work. Snow last night = 2 hr. commute for me
As for 5 year plan - good question and really good timing. I was told this morning that I need to be prepared to answer this for the divisional leader tomorrow morning.
We hope to be in the city we want to stay in long term and buy a house within about 3 years. Other than that, have good paying jobs that keep us happy, good health for ourselves, family, & friends, and take a vacation or two. We want to go to CO, San Diego, Dallas, and possibly the east coast.
We don't have a play-by-play plan, but in the next five years we'd like to...
1. Sell (or rent out) our current apartment and buy a 2-3 bedroom in NYC.
2. Climb Mt. Kilimanjaro (trip planned for Jan '11), heli-ski, and run a marathon-type event together for charity.
3. Travel. A lot. To crazy places (Africa, Egypt, Maldives etc)
4. Get my business off the ground and into market in the next 1-2 years. Further promote his new business venture in CT.
5. Renovate the house in CT or hire an architect to start from scratch and build our dream home (I'm pushing for the latter).
6. Procreate.
I survived the RoLex wedding and all I got was this lousy husband.
One&Only Palmilla - Los Cabos, Mexico
2010: Travel, make double payments on crazy student loan debt
2011: Travel, buy a house if financially feasible, make double payments on crazy student loan debt
2012: Travel, buy a house if we didn't in 2011, discuss procreating.
2013: Mid-year probably TTC, travel if TTC isn't working out
2014: Have child (or continue TTC)
i have, like, a one year plan? does that count? we already have our dream house in the neighborhood we really wanted to live in, and i think we'll stay there for a long, long time. it has 4 bedrooms not counting the master so i could fit my planned two children in there and then some.
we are getting our pool in a few months. breaking ground in late march/early april so we can just keep it open for the summer.
we will have two children in the next 5 years. planning on TTC starting in july-ish. that's a scary thought.
the mister would like to buy a place somewhere - like st. thomas - but we'll see about that after kids.
and....that's it. besides travel. but that's kind of a whole life plan for me.
Ours isnt crazy specific but here's the general plan...
This year: Sell our house, find a new job, get pregnant, get my business going. Next year, build our savings account back up to where it is before we buy a new house, get back to pre-baby weight. Travel to Europe in 2012 for our 30th birthdays, get pregnant with 2nd baby, after maternity leave dont go back to work because my business is doing so well I can just do that. By 2015, get ourselves to Dallas to be closer to family, build a new house that we can stay in for the next 10 years, have 3rd kiddo if we are going to have one (I'm still voting for 2 unless they are both the same sex) but I most definitely want to be done having kids before I'm 35.
Its kinda scary to write it all out like that...

Start taking classes again and eventually become a CPA.
Travel, travel and more travel. 2010 is already looking good travel wise. I'm going to WI, FL, CA (at least 2 times), and Europe.
Have kids (twins hopefully and be done).
Remodel the sunroom, basement, and kitchen.
2010: Apply for NIH grant (May); Have 1st kid (June).
2011: Nothing new. Maybe get a new puppy. Travel a bit. (who says you can't travel with a 1-yr-old?)
2012: Sell current home in IL and buy home in Fairfax County, VA (July); Move back to DC area! (Aug); Start a new job (Sept); TTC 2nd kid (Dec); Pay off student loan debt (Dec).
2013: Have 2nd kid (Sept).
2014: Live happily ever after?
Research jobs are great. I much prefer them to teaching, but maybe that's just me. I say, if you can get one, take it!
Everytime I try to come up with a five year plan, I change it before we get started. Apparently I'm more "go with the flow" than I realized.
Big things: A house. Maaaaaaybe kids near the fourth or fifth year (so, 2014 or 2015).
That's all I got. I'd like to keep teaching and will likely be working adjunct (or hopefully full time!) at a - or various - community college(s). I might decide to go for my PhD. That's back burner right now.
No five year plan here. Just a list of things I would like to accomplish. No set goal on the time though.
Finish undergrad.
Buy land. (We will eventually build a house on it when we outgrow this one.)
Travel our bums off!

2010 - buy a house & get settled in (already in motion). start to fix up & personalize it. combine all finances with K. think about long term career options.
2011 - save up some money. get a puppy, and maybe get job upgrades if necessary, take one last awesome vacation (or 2 smaller ones) as just the 2 of us.
2012 - TTC, and making plans for baby I'll be 28 and K will be 29 (i want to be an at-home mom, so ideally I'd want to to find a job that would allow me to work from home, or just find a part-time gig within my field.
2013 - adjust to life as parents, maybe TTC baby #2 (we think we want to have them fairly close together)
2014 - have baby #2, decide if a 3rd kid is in the future (right now we are undecided between 2 and 3. depends on $, baby genders, and how hectic our everyday lives are)
Looking at this is kinda freaking me out a little, haha. A whole lot of my 5 yr plan involves kids. We still feel a long way from being ready for that.
No 5 year plan really...
We're planning to sell our house and build a new one, very likely within the next 1-2 years...and, as much as it scares the crap out of me, we'll likely be looking towards babies in the next 1-2 years. Ugh.
That's about it. Exciting, I know.
The phrase "five year plan" would freak my DH out beyond belief. He feels very constricted by things like that.
However, here are the things that I envision happening in the next 5 years:
continue to do lots of world travel (specifically, I know we want to go to Europe and Chile in the next few years), me finish MBA (tentatively in Dec 2010), hopefully buy our first home, DH finish his documentary and decide what the next career goal is, build up savings, TTC baby #1
