Canon Rebel ... ?

I'm not a photographer and am overwhelmed by all the different Canon Rebels out there. I have a Canon Powershot (love it; have had three of them) but am looking to upgrade to a DSLR. I'd probably only use it on the automatic mode, but I want better quality pics than my 12 mgp point-n-shoot. (And, eventually, I'll probably upgrade the lens.)

Anyone know which Canon Rebel would be best for a beginner?

Re: Canon Rebel ... ?

  • The one I have :]

    http://www.amazon.com/Canon-XS-Digital-18-55mm-Black/dp/B001CBKJGG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1262889994&sr=8-1

Also Mells- there is a photography board over on the bump, there is TONS of information over there, especially for beginners!

  • I was this >< close to facebook messaging you and asking which one you had, because I'd just get that one.

And I had no idea about the photog board! Def will check that out.

I was thinking that when I got the camera, I could take puppy/kitty pics for our shelter here. I don't know what they're using but their photos are crap! Your latest ones are amazing!

I keep wanting to offer to take them for the shelter I'm fostering for, but she has dogs in and out so fast, I don't know if it would help. Thanks though, I think pets are waaay easier than people!

Anyway, YES. I love my Canon, and got the DSLR Canon because I have always had Canon point and shoots... A lot of the basic functions are the same so it was easy for my to figure it out.

You'll love that board, it's amazing what people know/can do :]

  • I have the Canon Rebel Xs and I love it. I normally just shoot on auto because I'm still learning. It was a great purchase and very easy to use.
