I didn't run over anyone :D

So today was my first Driver's Ed class...I didn't hit anyone (ok, well I almost hit a car or two) and I learned to parallel park.

This will take some getting used to. I can already tell which areas need special attention:

- Checking for other cars

- Speeding up too much, too quickly :x

hopefully i'll progressively get better provided the anxiety goes away.

  • Good for you!! But i refuse to drive in/around the city. I did it once and i think my only saving grace was that i did it after 10pm, so it wasn't that crowded. But i make DH drive when take rental cars up to NH. I just. can't. do it.
  • Yes

I pretty much refuse to drive in the city too.

  • I have to give you credit girl, I don't think I could have learned to drive in the city, Staten Island is a whole different ball game.  I have no problems driving in the city now, but I never could've learned in the city.

  • haha I was scared...let me tell you. so much going on! but don't give me too much credit- it was up in Riverdale during school hours. I think my Monday class will be much worse. The instructor did say he was going to take me down into the city at one point and that petrified me. I honestly rather learn somewhere else but when my DH is done with his Army training classes, we're probably gonna have to move somewhere where a car will be necessary to get around and I don't want to get "stuck" while I learn, KWIM?

And it was one of my resolutions too ;)

  • Good luck! Driving in the city is not bad once you get used to it! And if you can drive here, you can drive anywhere!

  • Ha ha.  I think practice will make it better.  I think if you can drive in NYC, you can drive almost anywhere.
