Friday Wellness Check-in!!

TGIF! How did everyone do this week with exercise, eating right and generally taking care of yourself?

I had a rough week. I worked out (maybe too much) from Fri-Sun and then on Monday I literally could not walk. I think I was having delayed onset muscle soreness in my calves. DH had to go buy me crutches. So I spent the rest of the week recovering.

I did bring my lunch to work almost every day this week, so hopefully that balanced out my lack of exercise a bit. I'm getting back into working out tonight (30 min. cardio and 30 min strength training).

A major fail this week is that I have not been eating breakfast!!! I will stock up on breakfast groceries this weekend. Oooh and I got the "abs diet" book which I think I may start up ASAP. It's good stuff--6 small meals a day with lots of protein to keep your metabolism going.

Sorry for the long post! How did everyone else do?

Re: Friday Wellness Check-in!!

  • I've been doing OK this week. Brought lunch everyday, and ate at home for dinner all week. I'm having a hard time getting out to excersize though. Its been so freaking cold this week.

We are looking to join a gym, so hopefully once we do that I will be able to work out more. For now I am being better about what I eat and hopefully that will help.

I can't believe you worked out so much you needed crutches! Now I feel really lazy not having worked out at all this week.

  • Ugh I know what you mean about the weather. I just try and exercise around the house. And I don't think I was crippled because I worked out so hard(although I'd love to believe that), i think it was because I hadn't worked out in so long!! It was very sad and definitely a wake-up call that I need to get with the program.

Keep up the good work with the not eating out! It's soooo hard for me to do because I suck at cooking!!

  • I definitely had a good week considering it was the first one after the holidays/back to work.

Tues-Fri I rode the exercise bike for 45 minutes. Cooked all of our meals at home this week, and did a big grocery shopping trip on Tuesday to stock the house with healthy stuff. We have a bad habit of running out of food, and that makes it too easy to pick something up or order out.Although I'm not following any diet per say, I am trying to be aware of calories and fat and just cut back in general. I'm trying to get away from snacking any time I feel even the tiniest bit hungry.

Next week I want to add in some strength training....oh do my abs need it!

  • Do you cook everyday? We try to eat in most of the week, but I hate cooking in the evenings. I usually cook a few things on Sunday, but then we run out by Thursday.

I did do a lot better on the snacks this week, lots of veggies & hummus. No chips!!

  • Thought I would stop by your thread here. I'm trying to get back into exercising daily like I was doing a year ago. I had a week with my daughter home from her father's where we ate out almost every day and sometimes 2x a day to see friends and family with her. I felt like a sloth! I've been cooking all week long and I love to cook. I've done a couple of days of exercise. I need to get back to it. Keep kicking me in the bootie with your posts!Big Smile
  • What kinds of exercise do you do? Do you have a gym membership or do you do DVDs at home or none of the above? I'm always looking for new ideas. Thanks for checking in!

  • We do cook pretty much every day, luckily DH likes to cook and then I might do a meal once a week or so. We're trying to limit eating out/take out to once a week.

    Vacation

  • I don't belong to a gym...since I've not really had a job in over a year I don't do much that requires me to pay for it...I do everything pretty much at home. I have been a member of SparkPeople.com for almost 4 years now. I use their site pretty exclusively. We were riding bikes every couple of days and I was walking every day 3 or more miles. I was also doing strength training every day. I got out of the routine back in July after having horrible menstral issues that kept me in bed for about 2 weeks. I've not been able to get my routine back since then. :(
