The paint  brand was Krylon that I used.  Krylon chalkboard paint, low odor. 

Also, I saw you're interested in making a mardi gras wreath.  I made one a few years ago that I'm still using, it was easy.  I got a round wire wreath base (available at craft stores) and just bought some of that shiny mardi gras colored garland and wrapped around it, concealing the base completely.  Then I got some porcelain masks and tied them on with floral wire.  Stuck a Mardi Gras bow on and presto!  You could get real creative and hot glue beads and doubloons (spelling?) on but I didn't feel like taking the time!
