OB recomendations

I'm looking for an OB, and I live in Olathe.  I am willing to travel to Overland Park, Leawood, Lenexa, Shawnee, and PV.  One that has experience in PCOS would be excellent too!  My general physician has not been much help for me in finding an OB.  Thanks!!

Re: OB recomendations

  • I don't have any recs for those areas (sorry!) but did want to suggest that you post this on the KC Baby board, too. http://community.thebump.com/cs/ks/forums/4549623/ShowForum.aspx

  • My OB/GYN is Dr. Nguyen @ KC Women's Clinic. They have offices by OP Med Ctr on Quivira & St. Luke's on Metcalf. I'm not sure if she specializes in PCOS, but I was referred to her because I was looking for someone w/experience in treating endometriosis. She has been fantastic w/regular GYN stuff & during my pregnancy and I always feel like she takes the time to answer all of my questions and make sure things are going okay. I can't recommend her highly enough.

Good luck! Finding an OB/GYN you feel comfortable with can be such a struggle!

  • Dr. Douglas Brooks (Menorah Medical Center) is a family physician who used to deliver babies as well, until his wife made him stop because he was never home. :) He isn't an OB, but he does know a lot about PCOS. He fixed mine.

  • I go to the Women's Healthcare Group.  They actually have offices in Lawrence and in Overland Park (I think inside Overland Park Regional).  There are several OBs or there are also several midwives.  I've seen Dr. Courtney Younglove, and I think she's great!
  • I too have also gone to the Women's Healthcare Group for the last 10 or so years, and they have delivered both of my babies.  I have a lot of friends and coworkers who also go there.  However, I don't think I will be going back.  The practice has about 8 doctors, and they did have 5 midwives.  All 5 of the midwives left this past August - 1 retired and the other 4 went to a new practice together.  I had always seen one of the midwives; she delivered my first, and I was about 32 weeks pregnant with the second when she left.  The one that retired luckily was there until 4 weeks after my son was born, so she delivered him.  I'm not opposed to seeing a dr, I was just always scheduled with a midwife for my annuals, so I continued to see her.  Anyway, since all of them left at the same time, it tells me something is fundamentally wrong with the practice, and I will look for somewhere new.  I know they recently hired 2 new MW.  Whenever I have seen one of the dr's at the practice, I have not been very impressed.  They always seem rushed or something.  I just really had a better relationship with the MW, and would go to her new practice if it weren't so far from me!
