relocating! need an apartment?

I haven't been on here all weekend; and here's why:

On Friday, DH got a call from work- they want us to relocate to Birmingham, AL!!!! They told him he needs to give them his decision tomorrow.... so we have been busy thinking about it, researching and talking to family and friends... the general concensus has been "what is there to think about?" this opportunity will open many new doors for DH career-wise; plus we will be able to afford a house with a decent sized yard- maybe even some acreage!!!!! I am so excited this is going to be such a great adventure for us. We are not sure of the exact dates and all, that will all be ironed out tomorrow when DH calls the VP. But we do know they want him up there ASAP... so we are looking at the end of the month, YIKES!

Is anyone (or do you know anyone who would be) interested in taking over our lease? Our lease ends in April. we live downtown in a 2/2. Rent is $960 per month, this includes basic cable, valet trash, and 2 parking spaces. There is 24 hour security/concierge, 3 elevators in the building, a community pool and fitness center, and a hair salon on the property. It is within walking distance of wall street and church street. We are looking for someone who would be able to take over on or around Sept 1, however exact date can be negotiable. Let me know if you are interested!!!!

Re: relocating! need an apartment?

  • Oh yes, forgot to mention.... the "fish people" moved out on the first, no more fishy smells! lol.
  • Fun! Isn't it just amazing how inexpensive homes are in AL? I'm not a big fan of Birmingham, but, it's not terrible- and being able to get a house is great. The last time I was there, they were working on the downtown and had some nice new restaurants, too. :)

Are they not going to pay for your move? The fine for breaking your lease should be part of it, if they are (and I hope so!).

We're hoping next week to get some news that would mean a big move for us, too- and it's exciting, even if it's a little overwhelming! :)

    I wish you the best!

  • Oooh cool! I actually like Birmingham. It's decent enough. And they have this good barbeque place and mexican place downtown. Good luck to you! And I second that you should ask for relocation expenses when you accept!
