I found this website to help locate places to nurse when in Boston. ?I'm not comfortable nursing in public (just my deal, I don't mind others doing so) and Ben hates to be covered (I don't think I would enjoy eating that way either!), so I try to find places that are nursing friendly. ?Today, we went to the Museum of Science and thanks to this website giving me the tip, I was given a key to the first aid room where they had a small, private nursing area. ?Just an FYI, if anyone is interested...

Re: PSA for nursing moms
thats cool! i wouldnt be able to do that in public either, also not my bag
but that reminds me, when we were on vaca and went to six flags, they had
"family centers" and they were spectacular! they had brand new high chairs, every formula imaginable, private bf rooms, nice living room with a tv, kids activities, coloring books etc... and tons more butit eludes me right now...
oh! and the best bathrooms! they were huge and had 2 toilets, one for a mini me and then a normal height one. it was too cute! there should be more places like that imho
lol...see I am totally opposite. I dont mind nursing anywhere. I mean I dont have the girls flopping out. I have become a pro at the pull up of the shirt and the pull down of the bra and show nothing to the public. :P
I actually think its funny when it bothers people. 1) they cant see anything and 2) um, its what they are made for! Not for my hubby to play with, not for crumb storage and heck, men walk around topless with there nipples showing yet I get looks when I am feeding my baby! lol
Some may TOTALLY disagree with my NIP (some maybe on this board) and thats fine....Ill warn you when me and my milk makers are coming! hehe In the mean time Connor dictates my life now and what he says goes!
I agree with you 100%, Beth! ?I am not good at doing it in public, because Ben is allllllll over the place and for some reason (probably habit), I have trouble nursing without my Boppy. ?
I will say that when I first asked where the nursing room/first aid room was, the guy was like, "Oh, you mean the bathroom?" I said, "Uh, no. ?I wouldn't eat in a bathroom- would you?" ?Sometimes, people just don't get it...?
lol beth! whi;p them tattas out!!!!! lol
honestly it used to really really bug the hell outta me before i had kids when i would see people bf in public. i would be truely disgusted, but after i had vinny that all changed. and i never even bf'd! i just "got it" i think....
What a neat website! Somewhat related story . . . we went to Storyland a couple weeks ago and they have Mother's Rooms set up next to the restrooms in the park. it's separate from the restroom, has a wall of changing tables, a few rocking chairs and stools, a sink, and is COOL! We went in because I had to change Gabby and there was a mom in there nursing. Of course, Gabby gets all curious . . .
G: Mommy, what's dat lady doing?
Me: She's feeding her baby her nummies.
G: Where's her ba-ba's?
Me: She doesn't need one; her mommy feeds her.
G: From her BOOBIES?!?!?!
Me: *shaking my head* Yes, honey, from her boobies. Wash your hands, please. (I looked over at the woman and mouthed "sorry" to her. Thankfully, she seemed amused)
G: Why?
Me: Because that's how some mommies give babies their nummies.
G: Did I get nummies from your boobies?
Me: *sign* No, you didn't like it and just had your ba-ba's. Let's go find Daddy now.
G: I didn't like it? Why?
Me: I just don't know, Gabs, I don't know.
I finally got us out of there, damn near tears trying to hold in my laughter and embarrassment. Of course, she had to give Daddy the whole play-by-play (rolling eyes).
That's great to know, thanks Jeanette!
LMAO Becky! That's awesome - kids are so funny! My nephews are always asking me what I am doing with Austin and I just calmly explain to them: "Some babies eat from mommy's breasts, you did too when you were little." Although my oldest nephew, who is 4 was really curious and wanted to "see"...I had to put my foot down there and say: "Sorry, Austin is eating..." LOL!
Too funny Becky!!!
Thanks for the website
