How was your weekend?

Re: How was your weekend?

  • I had a very nice weekend!  Friday was a much-needed quiet night at home, followed by a relaxing Saturday morning.

Then we were off to do some shopping before house-hunting.  I was able to pick up some maternity essentials to get me through these last three months - jeans with the big belly panel, a comfy bra for home/sleeping, bra extenders and a sweater (along with some undies...that I don't think are working out...bummer).  Then it was off to the houses! We saw 6 townhouses, none of which were right for us, but all made it clear that it was time to put an offficial offer on the unit we thought we lost out on last week (since then, the buyer's financing fell through, putting the property back on the market).

On Sunday we did the grocery shopping and other shopping - I got some great non-maternity sweaters on clearance (my favorite word!) that have room for bump! And lamps for our bedside tables, which I have been dying to buy for months.  And then we put in our offical offer on the townhouse we want.

Sunday night we made another new recipe (did I mention I got this book for Xmas?? We've made 3 recipes so far!) in the clow cooker.  And now I'm back work, very anxious to hear if our offer has been accepted!!!

We've always had the crockpot, but barely ever used it. It is rocking my world!!!  Throw a bunch of things into a pot, forget about it for 6 hours, and dinner is served? Um, yes.  That is my kind of cooking Wink

  • Can I tell you how happy that it is Monday? I needed that weekend to be over. It was my job to keep the kids out of L's hair as much as possible. Easier said than done. You know the adage about men being horrible patients? My wife is clearly a dude. And my ILs have now been at my house for 12 days. They are somewhat of a help, but the kids don't really know them and therefore won't let them do anything for them. My MIL is a HUGE worry wort/alarmist and given my non-alarmist ways (it is my job to stay calm in major traumas, so coughing (that is described as normal on the discharge paperwork doesn't concern me) it drives me batty.

Friday - ILs picked up kids from school (this is a help!) Stayed in and played Wii. Ate "potato soup" my MIL made (not quite thickened instant potatoes with no seasoning.) Blech.

Saturday - Sold our potty chairs to someone in our multiples group and I took the kids to the kids theater to see a show." I took the kids to get Happy Meals since we lost one of the Chipmunk toys and it was high drama. The kids took a long nap and I crashed (YAY!) Helped L take a shower and more Wii playing after dinner.

Sunday - Took the kids to Target, to the mall to play inside/have lunch/ride the carousel. It was perfect since the mall was just opening and it wasn't crowded. Took the kids to TRU to use gift cards they got. No one took a nap, everyone was cranky, I wanted to run away, and even though L told me I shouldn't, I put the kids in bed at 6:45 and they were asleep IMMEDIATELY and slept till I woke them at 6:30.

  • 2brides: Hang in there. It sounds like you have a ton on your plate right now. Wishing L a speedy recovery.

We had such a great weekend. The perfect mix of relaxation, productivity, social and couple time!

Friday: We ate take out and vegged in front of the tv. We started to watch The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, but couldn't make it through. It was indeed painfully slow and we gave up! We were in bed and asleep by 10pm and it was blissful!

Sat: We woke up and headed out for our 2nd iui. I'm feeling really good about our timing. Fingers and toes are crossed. After the iui, we went out to breakfast and then headed home for a marathon couch/tv session. I'm embarrassed to admit that I spent the vast majority of the day watching J.ersey Shore on mtv. We ended the night with grocery shopping and dinner at home.

Sunday morning was a mix of cleaning, laundry (it never ends!) and Target shopping. We finished off the weekend at a political fundraiser for our friend and then used a gift card to have dinner out.

Great, great weekend. Now it's back to the grind! Boo.

  • Well I survived my first week back and was so happy for the weekend.  Friday E had her 6 month drs appointment and got 3 shots.  She did well and we gave her tylenol and she didn't spike a fever this time.  Sat she slept a little more than usual so we did some house work.  We decided to try E on solids and she really liked them but about an hour after she ate she was crying and so upset with a belly ache.  She had some gas drops and felt better.  Unfortunatly the crying happened after S and I had left to go out to dinner for the first date night since E came home.  My parents paniced and we had to run out of the restaurant leaving half a champagne cocktail on the table.  We finished our meal at home and I'll tell you that surf and turf looses something when eated out of a styrofoam boxSad

Sunday we watched the Patriots lose and I went shopping.  E had some more rice cereal and repeated the previous evenings screaming.  We are not quite sure what is going on.  Any thoughts Mommies?  We are going to make sure she has her reflux meds before her next solid meal but I am not sure what else to do.  We may stop solids and wait since she is only 4.5 months adjusted or skip rice and try oatmeal or avocado.

School is good but with trying to figure out what I am doing and pumping I have so little time to be on the computer and nest (boo). I am sure I will figure it out but I am swamped.  We have a new schedule this year so I am also trying to get used to that.

  • I'm sorry to say our weekend was dreadful :-(

LMC's behavior went from really bad to hideous and beyond. She is acting out terribly after her visit last week. Nightmares again, hurting her sister, refusing to listen, causing problems at nap time. It's awful. I hate this.

In the middle of all the chaos S got severe stomach pains and couldn't stop throwing up. I had to call my MIL to take her to the ER. I was so worried but had to stay with the girls. She was so sick even IV meds didn't help her and she ended up with a CT scan to rule out anything serious. Thankfully she is okay now but it was a long night and we didn't get to sleep until 3:00am.

Last night PBS decided to wake up screaming bloody murder. She was thrashing in her crib and looked like she was having a bad dream. She was sobbing and gasping and had scratched her face. It took forever to calm her and get back to sleep. Poor baby.

I am ready for a calm day and a much better week.

I hope the week is better and S is ok :(

  • Friday...I can't remember. I guess we hung out at home?

Sat we did house stuff and helped a friend fortify her fence against her climbing huskies...and then went out to dinner.

Sunday was our belated family Christmas. All in all, not too exciting.

I am so sorry. I hope that things get back on track and calm down for you.  and night terrors are so scary.  Carter has them and he'll scream, throw himself on the ground, etc. Touching him makes it worse, so we have to let him ride it out...so hard. Good luck for a better week.

  • Yay for Mrs. F's exciting townhouse offer.

    Fingers crossed for you, thefamilyway.

    Boo for Duchess's dreadful weekend.

I had Friday off work because I'm in today (usually I have Mondays off). I went my last postpartum appointment with my recent birth clients in the morning. Then my nana came down to spend the weekend with us again and get some more curtains made. We spent the afternoon at an amazing grocery store by our house and then had a lovely dinner at home. Saturday was mainly curtain-making with some Bananagrams thrown in. Sunday was the same except we went out to dinner and amazing ice cream from a local ice cream parlor. My nana left this morning, but is coming back on Saturday for the the three day weekend and more curtain making. Hopefully we'll have all the upstairs ones done!

  • Friday morning was my last run for Week 1 of training.  Friday night SIL, a friend, DW, and I went to see Leap Year.  LOVED it!

On Saturday morning I went for a 10 minute run and struggled with it...  Found out why today, explanation below.  Went to REI, Sports Authority, Nike Outlet, etc. in search of running gear.

Sunday morning was spent at my IL's.  In the afternoon we relaxed at home, grabbed Chipotle for dinner while we waited to DW to get dropped off.

Running Issue:  I was wheezing when I got back from my run and for the rest of the weekend I felt a tickle in my throat that I had cough to clear.  The tickle wasn't a sick tickle but more of an annoying tickle when I would breathe.

Explanation: I went to my doctor today and told him what happened, he didn't hear a wheeze when I saw him so he thinks I have exercise induced asthma.  No inhaler prescribed yet, is a possibility in the future.  He also found a heart murmur and said it's nothing to worry about right now.
