Does somebody have a case of the Mondays???
Just thought I'd see what everyone got into this weekend. Friday we went and took measurements in the new house for some furniture, and we had dinner with my cousin and his wife, then went to lowes and nearly had a panic attack over all the things we are going to need... basic things like lawn mower, shovel, rake, etc.
Saturday we went to my cousin and his wifes house in the afternoon and we made dinner there, ribs, roasted potatoes, etc... YUM. We hung out there till about 9, then came home and watched some boxing match my husband had been looking forward to... I fell asleep.
Sunday was church, then lunch with some friends from church, then we came home and did laundry. I mad a very yummy pasta dish for dinner with this chicken/apple sausage we got at costco.
It was a fun weekend. Next weekend we are going home to WV for a family reunion and to see one of my best friends whose having a tough time right now.
What did you all get into?
Re: How was your weekend?
Friday-not a good day. I had another steroid shot in my lip and it still hurts today from it.
Saturday- went to my moms bc Brian is laying her tile. Then Brian and I went to the Surplus warehouse on Laurens Rd. to look around
Sunday- more tile at my moms (skipped church) ate a nice lunch with mom and her bf then last night we went out with some good friends and watched one of them wreck on a motorcycle. A car ran a stop sign and hit him...he was hurt very badly...and it was awful seeing it. Luckily it wasn't as bad as it could have been and he will be fine. we were out late at the wreck and I'm tired now,...
OH my goodness, I'm so sorry about your friend!!! That's horrible that the car ran a stop sign and hit him, especially since he was on a motorcycle! I'm glad he's going to be ok though!
How many more steroid shots do you think you'll have to have during your recovery?
And what all do they have at the surplus warehouse on Lauren's road? I've driven by it but I've never been inside.
DH & I went to Tybee Island GA (right outside of Savannah) for my Uncle's wedding. It was a blast b/c it was the 1st time in over 11 years that my Dad's family has been together. We had soo much fun. My uncle's little boy is 8 months old (sooo cute!!!) and, as it seems to be the custom on that side of the family, he looks just like his dad and the other men on that side of the family did when they were little.
MRSZP2B-if there's anything you all need help with when you start moving, please let me know. We're only 5 minutes away and I'd be happy to help I could.
Have a great Monday!!
MRSD07, I'm sure we'll need help in some way or another I'll keep you posted!
Your husband doesn't have any experience climbing on roofs does he? We have to add end-caps to our ridge vents on our roof (they just snap into place) and there is ONE nail that needs removed and patched on the roof. My husband is NOT fond of heights, and I personally am a total clutz and neither of us are comfortable with the roof work.
If your hubby does anything like that, ask him what he'd charge!!!
I'm also horrible at positioning furniture, so if you have a knack for that, maybe some night you guys can come over for dinner and you can help me arrange furniture! (Zach can do the heavy lifting)
Thanks he will be ok...and everyone at the fire dpt learned a valuable lesson about motorcycle safety first hand...and wearing helmets!
We are HOPING this will be my last shot but there is not way to tell until 6 more qweeks (it takes that long to do its job) but I go in two weeks for more lazer work.... oh joy. but at least the lazer just smells like burning flesh and doesn't actually hurt bad.
oh and last question sorry....
They have like building supplies. Basically its items like builders buy too much of and sell cheaper. Like: laminate floors, hardwood floors, tile, sinks, cabinets, doors (patio and interior), carpet, faucets...stuff like that. Very good if remodeling (we will be able to hardwood our living room for about $300...thats it!)
That is SOOO sweet! There is actually a set of furniture I LOVE on craigslist that I've made an offer on... If they take it, I truly may need help picking it up... we have a Toyota Corolla and a Rav4 haha. My cousin's wife's brother has a truck we can use too, but he works midnights so it's hard to get a good time for him.
Anyway I'll let you all know if I manage to snatch the furniture cause I may need your offers to help haha.
As for our actual moving day, we've rented a "in-town" uhaul so we should be able to do that all in one trip and my husbands parents will be down that weekend to help too so we should be set for the bulk of the moving stuff.
Mrs. S- OMG! How horrible!! I am glad to hear he will be ok. My mom and soon to be step dad ride harleys and I am always freaked out about things like that.
My weekend...Friday we went to Books a Milliion and ate dinner at a Mexican restaurant, Saturday we went to the SC museum which was a lot of fun, haven't been there since I was a kid. That night we went over to our good friends house and hung out by the pool. We got home just in time for that horrible storm to hit. Sunday visited the in laws and then went to Jonathan's last baseball game (they lost in the playoffs, good and bad, we were both ready for the season to be over).
I'm defintely having a case of the mondays....
I don't know about the rooftop stuff, (Steve's a technology guy-not really experienced in height-based work) but I can definitely help you out with the furniture organizing, and stuff like that.
Just keep me posted!!
btw-MrsS- I think DH & I might check out that warehouse on Laurens road you're talking about. He really wants to put hardwoods (the Pergo stuff) in our downstairs area. Thanks for that info!!
no worries about your hubby and the roof haha. My cousin's brother in law is apparently like a billy goat and walks on roofs like he's walking down a sidewalk so I think we're going to send him up there!
Do you guys think it is reasonable to ask neighbors shortly after we move in if we can borrow an extension ladder if they have one?
How would you feel if a new neighbor asked to borrow your ladder?
Would it help if they returned it along with something nice like fresh flowers?
I think the idea of returning the ladder w/ something as a thank you is a great one as well.
AlwaysMrsS, no need to have your husband bother his employer over it... we can buy an extension ladder if need-be, or my cousin's neighbor has one that they always borrow so maybe we can borrow that. It seems like something we're eventually going to need anyway so maybe we should just invest in it now.
For those of you who are home-owners, do you have an extension ladder at your house? I you don't, how many instances have come up where you wished you had one?
but seriously, your neighbors shouldn't mind loaning you one!
We don't have one and we've never needed one, our house it only one story and we can pretty much reach the roof with a normal ladder
For me:
Saturday was a great day for me. I got to meet actors/actresses from Days of Our Lives. They were at the Marriott off of Pelham Rd in Greer. It was a lot of fun. Got some pictures and some autographs. There were a lot of people there, but it was very organized. No pushy people at all. I did wonder about something though. Do people look in the mirror before they leave their home? I mean I'm no supermodel, but I made sure I looked nice, cause I knew I'd be taking pictures with the Days people.
Sunday-Church and then went to my sister's.
Haha admittdly there have been times I have run out of the house without looking in a mirror... usually once I DO catch a glimpse at my reflection I'll start yelling at Zach... "WHY DIDN"T YOU TELL ME I have a piece of lettuce hanging from my front teeth???... MY SHIRT IS INSIDE OUT," etc.
It's pretty rare, but it does happen.... But I'm talking about a trip to the gas satation, not attending a fundraising event where I know people are going to be taking pictures etc.
Glad you had a good time!
