Axel update
This weekend, he learned how to kick it on the couch.
He also learned what toys are and how to play with them. Up until Sunday he just looked at them. Jake tries to play tug of war with him, and Ax will comply to a point, but after that he just goes after Jake. This almost resulted in two mouthfulls of beef stew when H and looked up from dinner and saw Ax chewing on Jake's tail 
He is a fiesty little sucker.
He is afraid of his bowl and only will eat kibble off the ground. He finally took some chicken out of my hand, but I had to put my hand on the floor before he would take it. He will run off if you move or make any noise while he is eating. Someone did a real number on him.

I am *sure* he has been beaten. I was playing with a toy with Jake to show him it is OK. I went to throw it, and as I raised my arm he took off running. He is really sweet and super cuddly depsite his bad past.
I am lucky to have him, too, CW.
Awww! What a sweetie. You're an angel for taking him in (and all your fosters).
Poor buddy. Hopefully you can help him gain some trust in humans.

I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929

You are wonderful for taking in fosters. I would love to do that for kittens/cats but I've lost 2 to communicable diseases (including the brother to the kitten pictured in my siggy). I'm scared to death to bring any germs into my house and expose my cats, esp. when there aren't good tests or vaccines to make sure the foster is healthy.

Toby still winces if you move your arm too fast. And he's TERRRRRIFIED of boxes, bags, hampers, basically anything that you could put him in. We've figured out that he was probably both hit and neglected when he was a pup. Breaks my heart.
Awww. I'm getting all Sarah McLachlan-ASPCA weepy over this.
You're wonderful for giving the poor pup a life he never had.
