For Those Who Know About Jesus
Ok, I know that according to the New Testament JC died and 3 days later came back.
I know nothing of what happened after that. Did he just kick it with the apostles? Did he ascend to heaven on a fiery chariot ala Elijah? Did he just disappear after proving he that he came back?
Someone please explain.
Re: For Those Who Know About Jesus
I'm no expert either, but yeah, he kicked it with the apostles for awhile, most didn't recognize him at first and then there was a big reveal. Then he ascended into heaven after a while.
To quote the apostles creed:
He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.
He shall come again to judge the living and the dead.
I just a friendly gal looking for options.
You guys have it except for Mary M. and her homegirls going to the tomb, and the angel telling them that Jesus had risen.
sermon on the mount was actually before the crucifixion.
But someone already summed it up. Died on Friday. Dead for 3 days ( As far as what he did those 3 days, that is debated by theologians...spent them in hell, spent them in heaven. Battled demons. Did nothing. debate away) Came back Easter Sunday morning. Was considered corporeal and was touched for at least some of that time (although had the uncanny knack of appearing/disappearing and moving through locked doors at that point).
The ascension into 'heaven' was supposed to occur 40 days after Easter sunday. He told them to hang around, something big was coming....
50 days after Easter = day of pentecost (someone who is catholic check that--I've only been in 1 church ever that acknowledged it) = spirit and tongues of fire and people going all AOGger/Pentecostal/snake handling on things.
Some of the details are debated but all that's a part of the Nicene Creed so I don't think there are any Christian Churches (regardless of denomination) that would argue the details (other than 'where in the world/out of the world is Jesus between Good Friday and Easter' details) much.
