Gaucho's Brazilian Steakhouse?

It's in Manchester. Who's been there? How is it? I was invited to a party there in a couple weeks, and before I shell out around $40 (between tax & tip) I wanted to make sure it's as awesome as it looks on their website! TIA!

Re: Gaucho's Brazilian Steakhouse?

  • Its so funny that you would post this, DH and I are planning on going there tonight for our anniversary dinner :)

We've never been, but we went to a Brazilian Steakhouse just like it on our HM in Aruba and it was unbelievable!  A co-worker went to the Gaucho's in Portland and said it was fantastic.

I'll let you know our review after our dinner tonight!

  • We aren't big fans.  :-(  We don't mind spending that kind of money for dinner out if it's good, but we were disappointed in Gauchos and weren't happy to have spent that amount of money there.
  • I know many people who like it, but I think it sucks. I have been twice and disliked it both times. It is way too much money for a lousy meal. It is all you can eat meat. I like a small amount of meat, so it was so not worth it. Plus, I didn't find the meat to be all that great. That is just my opinion. We have some friends who love it.
  • We actually went there for our anniversary a couple of weeks ago. DH loved it,(He's a big meat eater) I thought it was OK. The meat is just roasted rotisserie  style with no seasoning or marinade. We were both on protein overload by the time we left. The salad bar was pretty basic, but the caiprihanas were tasty. It was nice to try something different, and the atmosphere was great. I'd recommend a good red wine to go with all that meat!!!
  • I didn't think it was all that great either to be honest...I've been to much better. Very overrated.
  • Dh loves that place, and so do his buddies.  I like the plaintains a lot:)  Its a really fun atmosphere to take some friends, we go in a group usually a couple times a year and its always a rockin time..I cant really decipher if its friends/food or both.

Funny story, we took Anna there once when she was 3 1/2.  Its insane to spend the kids meal price there (it was 12!!) but Dh and I needed a night out badly and couldnt get a sitter. She is a really good kid and we could take her to restaurants like that and she would be good the whole time..how I miss those days!!

She LOVED the concept..very powerful to flip your card over and have people come to you to a preschooler.  She picked just about one of everything, and proceeded to just eat salmon..alot of salmon, she got two more helpings.  I couldnt believe how much salmon a 3 year old could eat, adn what a weird choice, too:)

When I was in Portland a few weeks ago we noticed the Gauchos in the old port and wondered if they could be a chain..it looked very similar from the outside decor.
