We have a really steep hill in front of our house. Mowing it is extremely exhausting, and dangerous (the other day I slipped, and I am worried if I do it again my foot will go right toward the mower!) We live in a townhouse and other homes have just used some time of shrub- and done away with the grass. I dont mind doing that- i think that's a great idea, but we live on the end unit and we have a side yard (In the pic- the yard continues for 10 feet beyond the picture) . I just dont know where to end the grass and how to mark the division. (We are hoping to do it pretty inexpensively, we hope to move in about a year, we just dont want to have to put ourselves in danger anymore.)
Re: We Are Out of Ideas
Have you checked the Better Homes and Gardens website? They have a lot of landscaping solutions for many different types of areas. I saw some not too long ago for a yard that was sloped...

This is what I would do. It might be some hard work, but you can totally DIY using stackable pavers like this.
Or, you can use pressure treated lumber if you're on a budget but that will eventually need replacing. There's no way I'd be mowing grass on that hill though. I'd tear all that grass out and plant ivy before I'd mow that. I actually know someone who had a toe cut off (and reattached) in an accident exactly like you describe.
