Okay, I have done the 30 Day Shred for more than 30 days now and I can't tell any difference. Maybe my expectations were too high after hearing all the hype. Has anyone else tried it?
Re: 30 Day Shred
holy moly. If you did that for 30 days straight - you are amazing. About a year ago, I did it 3-4 days a week and I could tell a difference in the tone of my arms and a big improvement in my stamina. Now, I've tried starting it again - and I'm way behind where I was at a year ago.
I'm sorry you haven't seen a difference... I really loved it when I was doing it.
"The House We Built."
A journey of building the dream.
What weights did you use? Did you try all the levels? I think one segment is too short for a day's workout, but putting two together was really intense, so I used to do one segment and supplement it with some lighter exercise.
Diet is always a big factor too, as I'm sure you know. Maybe you're already just that fit that there weren't many differences to be made?
I do this but not on the 30 day program. I do a workout video before work and rotate this one with a couple others. Sometimes I get on kicks though where I do this one a lot. I know when I first did it (about 6 months ago), I could barely do level one. Now I can do level 2 without any modifications- level 3 kills me still, all the plyometrics (spelling?) just isn't for me.
When I first bought it I did it for something close to 30 days straight and could tell a huge difference in my stamina and toning, I didn't however lose weight...
5lb weights. I've been doing level 1 and plan to move to level 2 this month. Did you go through all the levels in 30days? The dvd didn't really outline how to move thru them so I decided to do one for 30 days, "master" it, then move to the next.
*sigh* One of the big motivators for me when I didn't feel like doing anything was that I would tell myself 'it's just 20mins, get in there and do it!' It hasn't been a huge time commitment or disruption to my schedule and that is a big selling point. I've had the same thought tho that it isn't enough and also plan to supplement with some jogging if I can persuade myself to get out of bed at 6am (this is where I begin teetering on unrealistic.)
I eat pretty healthy and was hoping to tone up more than I was to lose weight. I'm a little disappointed on that front, but I have noticed an increase in my energy level so I am pleased with that. Just wondered what others' experiences were.
I think you're approaching it very well and definitely agree with mastering a level before moving up, for safety's sake. Many people get hung up on the title, and think they need to do it for 30 days straight, but how boring is that?! I've done a ton of different workout videos (try Netflix!) and thought this one was just okay, though nice and challenging since many are too easy. There's no way I would want to do only that for 30 days, no matter what level. So, I'd throw it in there with a variety of other workouts, whether videos or whatever. You don't want to get burnt out. Make sure to take a rest day every week too.
Personally, I'd rather do a longer workout at a slightly lower intensity than a short one that's pretty intense the whole way through. Maybe it comes out about the same in terms of calorie burn and fitness level? 20 minutes is definitely better than nothing though and there is a big movement for high intensity exercise right now. (Not for me during pregnancy. I've definitely modified my workouts for now. No Shred!) I do think you'll see more toning results after you move to the higher levels. Good luck and good job!
