I don't really post here too often anymore since I now have an almost two year old and work ridiculous hours but... I still check to see what everyone is up to every now and then! I know that a lot of you had issues with fertility and experience with that so here's why I am posting. A friend recently told me that he and his wife are having a hard time (not happening) getting pregnant on their own. She only has one falopian tube etc and they want to seek fertlilty treatment but he said that NH insurance companies do NOT cover it. ?One treatment can run about 20K according to him. Does anyone have any experience with this?? Are their loop holes?? Is he not well informed?? I really look forward to any advice you may have!?
Thank you in advance!

Re: Hoping someone can help!?
Here's what I know. In general, NH co's are not mandated to cover fertility, so most don't. You CAN become self-employed and cover yourself with insurance that covers fertility - though I don't know how much of an option this is for your friend. There are also payment plans and self-insurance that many of the fertility clinics partner with to help ease the financial burden. If one spouse works over the border in MA, they would have the option to buy insurance through MA and that is a mandate state.
An IVF treatment can cost between $10-20K depending on the meds and number of U/S required.
The first course of action is usually Clomid - and that's about $9-$27/month. Even with one tube, it could work.
IUIs run about $2500 including injectible meds - or around $1500 with Clomid instead of injectibles.
I hope this helps your friend.
