New Year's Resolutions...

So, how are your resolutions going, if you made any?

Mine were:  Finish what I start, working out to get to the 5k and to feel better (diet is one of those unsaid things) and get me back to where I was weight wise when I met DH, and to read the Bible-start to finish...

Thus far, I've been working out to get to my 5K-etc-status... I've worked out 10 of the 11 days (one day off) and am on week 2, day 3 of C25K tonight!

I have yet to pick up the Bible to read it-found it, though!  I think I need a new one-the entire  binding has come off and I think I want a diff version-vs. King James version.

As for finishing what I've started... well, I did re-start the teaching certification courses-even if that meant just printing the paperwork...   baby steps... baby steps... =)

Re: New Year's Resolutions...

  • Well I didn't set any, but i always have an unsaid one of loseing weight.

DH and I are taking a Karate class to help me in that area. I'm the only one who really needs it but DH was sweet enough to take it with me. I think this will really help me stick with it.

Is karate awesome? I always wanted to take it growing up and I'm thinking of doing it when my back is fixed. My friend just got her black belt and she just started up a few years ago.

  • Mine was to try a gluten free diet and see if it makes me feel any better.  So far I am doing well on the diet but I don't feel any different.  I am going to continue for two months and then see.

I'm trying this too. I'm not eliminating gluten entirely, just trying to cut back on the amount I eat (eliminating a lot of processed foods, etc).

  • I'm also doing the C25K!  I will be doing week 1 day 2 this evening.  I was going to run this morning but then hubby said he actually wanted to go with me!  Yay!

Hubby and I have had 2 date nights so far this year which is amazing.  We got a couple of restaurant gift certificates for Christmas so we have to "free" date nights coming!  Nice!

Being more green is hard!  I'm trying to recycle more and conserve electricity and water but just getting in the habit has been harder than expected.

  • So far, so good.

My biggest goal was to stay motivated and to initiative. As you may have noticed, I am not on the nest quite as much as I was before. Mostly, I have only gotten on during lunch. When I am at work and struggling to find something to do, I find or make projects for me to work on to keep busy instead of turning to the net. It's been really rewarding.

Also, I have been cleaning up around the house a lot more. I've noticed when I do little things like pick up Dh's laundry, he will go and do other things like vacuum the floor. It's been great and has actually improved our relationship a bit =D.

My other was to at least maintain my weight and hopefully lose. I have been working out everyday and have been feeling great!!! I have gained a few pounds, but I know it's muscle bc Ive been lifting and doing ab workouts. So I am not worried yet. I am hoping in the next month I will actually be seeing weight drop as well as inches =D.

Oh, and I had the resolution to read more. so far I have finished the book I've been reading on and have been trying to read at least 5 pages every day. I've only missed a few, so I think I'm doing well.

Wow-those are good one! Being more 'green'... I'd think it would be hard! More power to you!

As Kimmy's gluten one! THAT I couldn't do--- but I should limit processed foods-hm.

Karate-Sierra-DH LOVES karate-they do the Japanese Okinawan style.  Do you know what style your place does? DH has a sensai who is very 'real'-seems like he realizes people have lives, etc, and karate is not their FT job.  He goes w one of my SS's. GL!

  • My only goal is to be a decent mom, cause I have no idea how life will change.

So far I'm feeding Lovebug carrot cake for good eye sight, so I'm doing well LOL Big Smile

  • Hehe, Lore you are a master baker lately!

I didn't really make any formal New Year's resolutions ... so I guess I have done well with them, hehe. Big Smile Actually, though, I have been better at getting out of the house and over to coffee shops/libraries more, and I've been going to yoga 3x per week.

  • Mine was to just get out and live more, experience more things.  It's not going so hot.  I get severe seasonal depression and I've seen the sun once since before Christmas.  I also haven't left my house in two days.

I have all the new fangled light bulbs to help me but they're not doing much.  I'm forcing myself to go out the rest of this week. P's home the next couple days so that should help and then friday I am going to go sign up for yoga classes.  The thought of being in an 85 degree room makes my heart skip a beat!

  • Get organized: going well. I finished cleaning out the office this weekend, including the closet, and got rid of a bunch of junk. I also transfered out my '09 files and made new folders for this year's bills.

Lose weight/get healthy: going great! I've lost 4.2lbs, and been working out nearly every day, and have been tracking my calories to stay in range. I was feeling pretty good until I twisted my knee, but I'm able to do modified workouts until I can handle the full-fledged deal in the 30DS.

Grad school: this is actually a long-term goal based on finances and situations. My only goal for this year is to research and decide what I want to go back to school for and take the GRE. This is still in progress.
