Anybody live/work SE?

Our office recently relocated and I would love some good restaurant recommendations for lunch.  I've mostly only noticed fast food nearby, but I want to avoid eating at places like that and I'm sure there are good, healthy places we're overlooking.  TIA

    Near 290 & Montopolis

  • There is a Subway off 71 and Riverside.
  • the only place is the Catfish Parlor and this is not a healthy option. There are not any places near there that I would recommend. You would have to go to Stassney/35 and to find some healty options. That part of town is mostly industial/ offices.

  • We had dinner at Patsy's cowgirl cafe a few weeks ago and it was pretty good.

    Amy

  • Yeah, that's what we've been finding- either std fast food or really fatty options.  The silver lining is that all this brown-bagging is probably good for my wallet though!

Thanks for the Stassney suggestion- we'll have to go down there and see what we can find.

  • If you go a bit farther west on 290 near lamar there are a lot more options.

Catfish Parlour can be healthy depending on what you get. We have grilled fish and chicken salads that are yummy. Its so good! If you have never been there please go check us out, we are 36 years old! :)
  • There places are all within a 5-10 minute drive from where I used to work (Grove & Montopolis)

    On Oltorf --- Hai Ky, 888, Olmeca's, Jerusalem, Luby's

On Riverside --- Thundercloud, Joy East (buffet, but they have a huge fresh fruit bar)

    On S. 1st --- Beunos Aires Cafe, Polvo's, Freddy's

On S. Congress --- Habana, Magnolia, the Trailer Park, Woodland

  • When I used to live in that area, my go-to healthy/tasty place was the pho restaurant on Oltorf. I think there's also a Mr. Natural on E. Cesar Chavez...lots of tasty vegetarian stuff!
  • Also, if you venture across I-35 -- Baby Greens at S. 1st and Oltorf is an awesome healthy/affordable lunch place. Awesome wraps and salads. Buenos Aires Cafe just a block or so south is also wonderful...salads, empanadas, and Argentine food.
